my grandfather came to san francisco from sicily.e got his very first job at eight years old lighting street lamps at fisherman's wharf. he eventually bought himself a boat and by the time of the great earthquake in 1906, he had several fishing boats. when the fire began to destroy san francisco, he loaded neighbors on to the bow. it was on that last boat he was introduced to my grandmother as he led her into the fishing boat for safety. my grandfather met my grandmother, and together, they tried to rebuild a city. san francisco has given my family so much opportunity and i would like to make sure our city continues to be a city of opportunity for everyone. san francisco is a place for history and we honor our past. we have also always looked forward to the future. what was once a gold rush town -- we became a center of finance and business, and when technology became a driving industry in the world, we became a center for people looking to launch new companies and new ideas. as a supervisor, i've focused on a future and saw the need

i've lived in san francisco. i have worked hard to assist the often overlooked, the disenfranchised, pork, limited english-speaking population in san francisco. because this group is not in the popular voting bloc, it is not easy for them to access city hall or other nonprofit organizations. i can proudly say my hard work has resulted in these individuals who can now help themselves. i created jobs for struggling musicians in chinatown to promote their talent and bring truth back to chinatown and in all speech. i promoted the rich cultural music here in return for my efforts, i have become their leader. i can say that i have helped in a small way. small businesses because of the art and music from within the community. it has been a win-win situation for the artists, community residents and merchants. there are many issues equally pressing women of color, care, and is equally pressing in all the complexities surrounding it, to be frank. none of the other candidates are mentioning any of these important issues. i

we have seen an 18% decrease in san francisco. in one example, in washington, d.c., a bag charge reduced single use bags by 81%. ireland has seen a reduction of 90%. i will conclude soon. in 2010, supervisor mirkarimi interest legislation which expanded the plastic bag band in san francisco to all stores. the legislation has not move forward for the past year essentially because the city attorney and planning department specifically wanted to make sure the city applies a proper environmental review standard to the legislation and considered everything from a categorical exemption all the way up to a full environmental impact report. following a california supreme court case this summer focusing on manhattan beach and another one this fall in marin county, the city attorney advised the department that the proper review of a categorical extension and planning department has now completed the categorical exemption review and it is finalized. i will just give you a very brief overview of the high points of what the legislation will do
