san francisco recreation and park department found 75 percent of all calls -- golfers are san francisco residence. the city decided to close sharp park, there several golf courses that are nearby and charge the same price. by encouraging that transition of the closure for sharp park, san francisco can help stabilize that bay area golf market by encouraging local golfers to play and the best in lincoln and improve the overall performance of the fund which could be invest in an -- could be invested in the lincoln park golf course and others in the area. i live in san mateo county as the child and had the opportunity to golf with my friends and family and what fun adventure would be created if we went to san francisco to golf. it would not like catalyze more time with love once, it would give me pride knowing as a san mateo resident that we were respecting that natural habitat of our native frogs and state and going to san francisco for a golf adventures. the ordinance increases access to affordable golf to bay area residents by providing all pacific residents with san francisco resident r

we need to do a lot in san francisco to encourage young people and young families to stay in san francisco. i think we are missing out on a lot of our diversity when young families leave our city. we need to do all we can to be mindful of the needs of young families in the city. we mentioned housing. schools are a big deal. but also being able to be flexible with transportation and children. >> what is happening with crime in your district? give me your thoughts on how you think the police are doing with respect to crime in your district? >> i think we are very fortunate in district two. we have a number of great police captains that oversee the stations that touched district two. richmond and northern are the two major police stations that touched the district. we do have a lot of crime in district 2. both crimes against individuals but also against merchants along our merchant corridors. chestnut. union in particular has been hit. fillmore and sacramento. it is a big deal. we also have the break-ins. we need to be very mindful that people keep their iphones and laptops out of sight. but

because san francisco is so young. -- because san francisco is so young, it is riddled by faults. i have a map that shows the faults across the bay area and san francisco. the granddaddy of all of these is the san andreas fault. it is the longest. it can generate the greatest earthquakes. >> it is just south of san francisco. it goes offshore down here. >> from my house to the fault is about 3 miles on average. >> the closest area in san francisco to the fault is this area here in the southwest part of the city. people said that the closer you are, there are conditions that exacerbate issues. >> the fault's effect on development depends on the fault type and soil component. the san andreas is the main fault. there is the hayward fault. the difference between the two is that the san andreas is predominantly offshore. the hayward fault actually crosses beneath populated areas and poses a larger threat. as we speak, there is a 67% probability of a major earthquake on one of these faults in the next 30 years. it is of major -- high probability. it is a magnitude 6.5. the 1906 was 7.9.

i am a member of san francisco archers, and perhaps unknown to you, we maintain a san francisco's city archery range on the east side of a highway in east sharp park. we have an excellent archery range there, which is the envy of other archer's all over the state of california. we are a four-state -- star range. we cater to hundreds or more adequately thousands of archer's every year, but are are we programs -- our our reach programs to grips, boys, girls, summer school boards, we cater to a large number of people -- summer school boards, we cater to a large number of people. if we are looking at recreation and recreation for children in san francisco or on the peninsula, this is an excellent place for them to come, and they do. we seem to have been lost in the rush here. the families that donated this land to the city of san francisco did so for recreational purposes. u.s. caretakers for them land seemed to be doing a good job with that right now. i urge you to follow with the endangered species compliance plan put together by your own park and recreation department. keep archery aliv

hammer, if you will, san francisco chamber of commerce. there have been just innumerable ones. but some of the ledger is are compelling, and i want to read just a few comments from some people, because i think they reflect this extraordinary man. from john pritzgber, as a sentencing scheme of 30 plus years, i have not known one person who was more of a booster of san francisco as warren. his rap -- love for the city manifest itself in obvious and even more not so obvious ways. from the executive director of san francisco child abuse prevention center, i simply cannot think of a more worthy individual in our community to honor with this renaming then warren hellman. has been a hero to thousands of children and families at san francisco, and the championing of our public schools in countless ways to advocating for a vital school bonds and other funding measures creating opportunities for hundreds of children. i would guess thousands myself. to enjoy bluegrass music at the annual festival. above all, warren has always been there for children

i want to make sure that san francisco has a working class population. i want to make sure we do not take for granted because we are seen as more cosmopolitan, that that excuses us from not tackling issues of poverty, which there are still substantial pockets of it in san francisco. just by what others may argue. that to me obligates our requirement to make sure this city, being in its reputation of being forward thinking and progressive, learn to -- learn to make sure that that translates into economics so that this isn't a city just for those who could afford it. >> what do you feel like are some of the biggest issues facing your district? >> well, when i came into office in january 2005, a number of areas of our district, as you outlined in your opening statement, really confronted different neighborhoods in different ways. district five is by far one of the most interesting drawn districts of the whole city. my western border goes almost into the sunset. my eastern border is goss street, my northern border is california street, our southern border is

the original chaldea san francisco -- the original county of san francisco came from san mateo county. they decided it was too large a county, said the card off another county. at the time, the largest population in the state was in san francisco. l.a. barely made a presidio. they had, like, 50 or 60 people. 90% of the population was in san francisco, and everyone down the peninsula is saying if they are in the county, san francisco has this huge population, we are going to have to go along with them, so they can't get off -- they carved it off. >> it looks like it is the richmond district, but a kind of shows what was on the west side town. a great deal of it was sam, and for that reason, people thought that the weather and the san -- it was really not a place that people wanted to live, and it was going to be very typical for san francisco -- very difficult for san francisco to expand west. >> if you look at the early maps, it was 3 miles wide by about 6 miles long, this huge sand dunes that just moved around. >> here is an 1875 map of the laguna. says along the side of the map, hig

san francisco would like to ask for a delay. thank you so much for your consideration. >> thank you. >> good evening, madame president, fellow commissioners. i am representing golden gate national recreation area and the historic park. we are privileged and feel a deep responsibility to protect park lands, and we have been working with both the city, the race management. we have to work on a compressed tight line -- to impress a deadline, and we have been expressing our issues through many meetings and through our 60 pages. we resolved many issues, including the potential for special use. other concerns may not addressed in a supporting plans or documents. we may -- other reports are either vague or missing. also the need for serving the underserved transit areas require clear commitments. it is difficult for us to judge the true impact of state actions to address these issues. we support america's cup and feel a responsibility to make for the park land is protected. this is a full commitment by the city to cover these costs. wh

i love being in san francisco. everything we just talked about, part of the reasons why we are there. i like because of where we are in the neighborhood. it is something that cannot be overlooked. commissioner dooley: just about the timeline of how this rolled out, what is the notification process over the three years? >> three months after the zoning took place january 19th of 2009, the planning department sent out a letter for all property owners. it was about

one at san francisco general and one at kaiser san francisco. the idea was to provide donated surgery when this was not being seen by kaiser members. the idea has taken off. we have 33 hospitals in our network. we get referrals from community clinics. we get thousands of medical volunteers that provide the information free of charge. cpmc has been one of our key hospital partners. since inception of their participating with us, 680 low- income and uninsured people have received care. this year, 160 patients have received care. over $1 million in charity care will be provided. the collective community benefit is impressive. it could they do more? should they do more? perhaps yes. certainly more as a community partner we value the participation greatly. >> good evening, supervisors. i am the resident of district 9. we are here tonight representing the academy in the tenderloin. several of you have visited our school and provided over the years. i thank you for that. i support the rebuilding of this and provide a concrete example that the commitmen

as you know san francisco was the first u.s. city to ban plastic check out bags over four years ago. that ban only applied to supermarkets and to pharmacy chains, and the ordinance helped to reduce plastic bag litter in san francisco as you heard by 18% which was a great victory. it also reduced contamination in our collective recyclables and compost. although we do take great pride in being the first city to have banned plastic bags in the u.s. and are pleased with the impact that the original ordinance made, plastic bags continue to be a problem in san francisco. i would like to highlight a couple of those concerns. plastic bags cannot be recycled through our curb side or pickup program do the economics and are still the largest and most costly contamination. there by continuing to pose a threat and a real obstacle. and then finally plastic bags are continuing to be a threat to marine and wildlife. a 2010 study named
