as there is a frank ogawa plaza. it seems like they're not arresting anyone at this moment, but there are police officers and they're keeping a close eye on the situation. according to some of the protestors we spoke with, and they were told, if you do not want to get arrested, leave the camp now and that is with these people did. they left the camps but did not leave the area. and they started moving down the intersection, getting into the faces of the police officers. the police officers are not grabbing any one or getting into confrontation. to buy their show of force, 100-150 officers in riot gear, uniformly moving down this area, as they were probably very intimidating. >>will: , when we arrived early this morning, many officers were on bicycles going around this area, scouting the area, the protestors were asking if we have seen police. they knew that this would happen this morning. protestors were told to not resist. >>darya: just seen has more on the team coverage. >>justine: here is video of one the police m

it is night and day from frank ogawa plaza. what we have here is maybe a dozen, maybe 14 tents still up. i talked to some people here a couple hours ago. looking up we can see the helicopter above. talking to some people down here. they were talking about they will resist peacefully. they don't have any confrontation in mind with police. whatever police bring is the reaction the police are going to get. if they are aggressive they will respond accordingly. if they are peaceful and ask them to go they will lock averages allow themselves to be arrested. what we are seeing -- lock arms, allow themselves to be arrested. we are seeing more on motorcycles, there is some activity down here this is really not a rehighly occupied area. large -- not a really highly occupied area. >> everything is a work in progress. our plan is really not in place now other than we are hoping -- we are planning to sleep and go on as normal, unless something major changes. if it does we'll spoken to it, according to the manner of its arrival. >> reporter:

police moved into frank ogawa plaza at 4:30 a.m.eds of officers are now clearing out the encampment that's been there for a couple of weeks now. they are wearing riot gear. they did use tear gas that dispersed the crowd. a number of people arrested, protestors were warned last night that the raid was expected this morning. they took aware that i propane cooking material -- away their cooking material. some used barricades against police officers this morning. a number of arrests. protestors who refused to leave the area were arrested. there is no word on how many were arrested. we expect more details from a police briefing coming up in short order this morning. the city of oakland is suggesting the business owners near the plaza open a little bit later this morning because of the police activity and some clean-up under way as well but these are live pictures. the encampment has been dispersed, a number of arrests. more later. >>> did california state university trustees break the law when they approved higher pay for top executives?

there has been a heavy police presence around frank ogawa plaza all morning today. police from several different agencies have been helping out with this operation. i have been told 16 different agencies total and if we can pan over, you can see what is frank ogawa plaza right now. certainly looks a lot different than it did about 48 hours ago when there were about 100 or so tents there. the city is still working on cleaning that up. they have not said exactly what they're doing or when they will be finished. they have been pressure washing and there was even some digging going on earlier this morning. now, protestors say they are not finished either. the main objective of the protesters is to take back frank ogawa plaza right in front of city hall. last night protesters talked about it. >> people have to reoccupy. there will be another camp somewhere else. hopefully this goes down peacefully and no one is hurt and people get the point. >> reporter: there were some injuries. a woman was hit in the forehead with a bean bag fired by police. more than 100 arrested. at least 16 law enforcement agencies have been tapped to help out with the protests. protesters say they are going to be back today for sure and tonight at 6:00 they are going to gather again for another rally and perhaps this will all begin again. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >> occupy oakland protesters are planning another protest tonight at 6:00 at frank ogawa plaza. as you can see inferencing is now down here at the frank ogawa plaza. that was pushed down by the protesters. the city has been saying they do not want the protesters to stay here at frank ogawa plaza past 10:00 p.m. but the mayor says they can stay here as long as they remain peaceful. look at this video. this is what happened earlier. protesters vowing to take back frank ogawa plaza and they did. 700 gathered holding signs that say opd has blood on their hands, referring to last night's clash. before the gathering many of the protesters pushed down the fencing. the mayor wants to open opdialogue between the city and the protesters. >> i want time to open up communication. i have decided not to have -- have minimum police presence over the next day or so so we can try open up the dialogue. people have to remember why we had to close to begin with, the sanitation issues. the community who met with me get that, it can't deteriorate to what it was before. i am the mayor of the city that has divided opinions on some things. most of the support, the "occupy
