i'm frank mallicoat. we begin on this friday with a violent home invasion in an upscale east bay neighborhood. a gunman broke into a home today and sexually assaulted a woman. as kiet do explains, two children were at home during the attack. >> reporter: all morning long as many as a dozen police officers, detectives and crime scene technician came and went at this home in the oakland hills to investigate a crime that is as rare here as it is shocking. >> call out the army right away. it's just not done in a civilized society. >> reporter: investigators say a man armed with a handgun broke into the home on the 6800 block of wilton drive just before 3:00 this morning. and with two children inside at the time, police say the intruder robbed and sexually assaulted a woman and fled. right away, officers focused their attention on the tall grass and heavily wooded steep terrain near the house. the home's backyard opens up into the redwood regional park and if this is indeed the attacker's getaway route, then t
