fred. >> and then steve trump has made a few announcements about some of his choices for his administration, and he did so on truth social. what more can you tell us? >> yeah, in the air and on the way to maryland, we saw a couple of of key roles being filled in the trump administration. for example, troy edgar an ibm executive, will be named the deputy secretary of homeland security. he is someone who previously served in the trump administration in that department. so he has experience there. he's also someone who contributed to project 2025, the playbook for a trump second term that he attempted to distance himself from throughout the the presidential race, but continues to pull names from to build out his cabinet and his administration. tom homan another individual who contributed to that as well will be donald trump's border czar. and then devin nunes. he will be serving on the intelligence advisory board. he obviously has some relevant experience as the former chair of the house intelligence committee. however, just another individual with some conflicts of interest getting a position

trump's florida home. so, steve, some of these new picks continue to highlight the benefits of being a big donor. what can you tell us that's right fred. >> yesterday, donald trump named troy edgar, an ibm executive, to be his deputy secretary of homeland security. and then he named another businessman, bill white, his ambassador to belgium. and these two individuals have in common is that they were also donors to the effort to get donald trump elected president. in fact, bill white gave about $100,000 to trump's campaigns and other committees that were aligned with him in his effort to get elected. and this is a trend in fact, a cnn analysis found that of the 90 people that trump had given assignments to as of early last week, more than a third of them have donated to the effort to get donald trump elected. and it includes eight of his cabinet members and their spouses, who gave $37 million combined to those various committees. and then two other of his cabinet picks, new york representative elise stefanik and florida congressman mike waltz. they transferred money from their existing campaign committees to donald trump's election com

trump's opponents. however, i will also say that today, and you mentioned this, fred we've seen a lot of people within the republican party including many of donald trump's cabinet picks and top advisers to him, praising the choice of patel. many of them as well, trying to argue that he is the type of disrupter that the bureau needs to kind of root out again, what they have been calling bad actors within the fbi and people who have been biased unjustifiably in their eyes against donald trump. now, as for the senate part of this, we actually did get some reaction as well from many republican senators including the incoming um, top judiciary republican chuck grassley. i want to read for you some of what he wrote. he said, quote, chris wray has failed at fundamental duties of fbi director. he has shown disdain for congressional oversight and hasn't lived up to his promises. it's time to chart a new course for transparency and accountability at the fbi. kash patel must prove to congress he will reform and restore public trust in the fbi. so that's just one key senator that patel is going to need on his side i
