it's las vegas mayor led the new year's countdown under the fremont canopy. a man is dead after a police pursuit ended in gunfire. fox5's abby theodros talked to officers about the fatal exchange. the pursuit ended in this neighborhood after officials say a man believed to be wanted for attempted murder fled from u.s. marshalls. that's when metro police were called to assist in apprehending the suspect. two officers then of guilded crown court where they encountered the man. they say the situation escalated when the man would not listen to their commands and approached them all while carrying a cell phone they thought was a gun. capt. matt mccarthy: because of the officers believed the suspect was wanted for attempted murder because this was a residential area and believed he was armed they shot and struck him several times. the suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. police have not yet released the man's identity or what brought him to las vegas - but police say they're still uncovering the details of this investigation. more details are expected in the c

through the fremont area, very slow. right now, on 80 westbound in the east bay.>> reporter: good morning, and it is a fairly slow ride as we make our way west on interstate 80 approaching the maze, and we have one of the cameras mounted on the light truck. you can see the traffic is moving pretty good, but the roads are wet. most folks seem to be taking it easy due to the rainy conditions. the rain is not heavy here in this spot in the east bay this morning. the chp has been very busy, many spinouts. dozens of crashes caused by the wet roads. one crash occurred at 5:30 am, and this was in fremont. this was a major crash northbound 680 at the automall parkway. the vehicle was driving too fast for the wet conditions, and it lost control, and it rolled and the driver had to be extracted by the emergency workers this morning. there was a separate problem related to the crash, a good samaritan and another driver stopped, pulled over and tried to help out after seeing the initial accident, and the person got out of the vehicl
