a fire at the fremont factory of tesla. this is the tesla factory in fremont right off 880. you can see the flames and thick black smoke. that was about 15 minutes ago. here is the update now. our skyranger's overhead. you can see that black smoke has now turned into white smoke, which is very good news. we just got an update from the fremont fire department. they told us this fire started in a cardboard pile outside and then spread to an outside structure and started a small grass fire. now, the structures we're talking about are those big tent structures, several of them there at theesla headquarters there -- the factory. one of the structures did catch fire. the fires have been contained and fremont fire department tells us we have several hours of overhaul to make sure the fires are completely extinguished. right now they will remain on site for several more hours tonight. no idea of any cars damaged or any injuries at this fire at the tesla factory in fremont. >>> four months later, an arrest in the murder of a beloved alameda restaurant owner. christy smith is live at

in -- firefighters in fremont. we get to developing news from fremont now after talking to firefighters. >> reporter: the fire was put out around 6:00 this evening, but you could still smell the smoke lingering in the air where a few hundred yards away from where this fire started past the parking lot, you can see a cloud of smoke hovering over the area. firefighters plan to work through the night mopping up the fire and monitoring for hot spots. the smoke coming from the tesla factory could be seen from miles. someone reported the fire at 5:20 thursday evening. when firefighters got there, they found a recycling area with a large pile of cardboard and a bailing machine engulfed in flames. four engines, a truck, and a water tender responded. >> power lines in the area also caught power, along with a power pole. >> reporter: from sky fox, you can see a large tent on the edge of the tesla property was damaged by the flames. what made matters worse, a flying imper sparked a grass fire in a grass field next to the tesl

fremont police and bart police were on the scene. the victim is an adult male and was taken to a nearby hospital. his condition and his injuries are unknown . the bart police did not have an immediate -- any any -- any immediate info regarding the stabbing suspect. this is more bad news for bart which has been plagued with increased violence at its station. the department of justice says the violent crime on bart jumped 69% in the last decade. last year they dealt with a series of strong armed robberies including one where nearly 50 young people attacked passengers at the coliseum station. this summer three people died after tax on bart in the span of five days. on july 18 51-year-old man died two days after getting attacked and cut at the pleasant hill bart station. three days later on july 20. three days later on july 21 a 47-year-old man was killed after getting punched at the mayfair bart station. finally, on july 22 18-year-old nia wilson died after she and her sister were both stabbed getting off at the macarthur station. we sa

kron 4's ali reid spoke with them this evening and joins us live from fremont...li, have they been able to shake it all off? they're still processing what happened over the weekend.it's not every day that you're driving down the freeway and you see a plane hovering over cars while trying to land.the husband and wife duo tells me the scary part about the entire thing, was that the plane's engine was completely silent... so there was no warning that it was directly above.and it's not clear if some of the other cars had any idea the plane was about to make a crash landing.it's still surprising to many, how the pilot was able to land with no issues whatsoever.eric and brandi geer were driving eastbound on 238, and just before the 580 north interchange they saw the small one-engine plane slowing landing on the freeway. eric jumped into action and tried warning other cars on the freeway by putting on his hazard lights and swerving. he noticed other cars ahead were doing the same in order to slow traffic and give the pilot room to land safely.the couple later noticed the

( darya ) the city of san jose is joining santa clara county firefighters in their lawsuit against verizon. verizon is accused of cutting internet speeds for firefighters battling the mendocino complex fire. that fire has grown to more than 415-thousand acres. it's now 74-percent contained. santa clara county's fire chief claims verizon "throttled" data speeds... and when he asked the company to restore those speeds... verizon offered a data plan that was almost twice as expensive. later this morning... an assembly committee will hold a hearing on the accusations against verizon.
