so along the san mateo coast peninsula, also fremont, a little bit fremont, milpitas, more towards sann to gilroy, hollister. look at the clouds increasing as well towards santa cruz, santa cruz mountains. so two forecasts here. a lot of cloud cover south. clear north at least so far as everything is coming down out of the north northwest. i'll be honest with you, this is a challenging week. this is a tough forecast. not so much today, but as we head into the next couple of days, half moon bay north almost gusting to 30 miles an hour. yet san jose and livermore and hayward stay calm, yet they're still pretty good. gusts up in some of the higher elevations and for a few localized areas, 4050 on the temps here, that next system will fall apart. it will drag across and it's called washout. it will wash out. the key, though, is that by wednesday there's going to be a low dropping in right here. and then do this at the same time. it's going to tap into moisture. so there could be some pretty good rainfall about santa cruz, santa cruz mountains, san jose, santa clara valley down to monterey,

to begin the day, temperatures will go the bay, a few spots sneaking up to around 60 degrees for fremontrm spot for the entire bay area is going to be 61 degrees in san jose, and that's still four degrees below what's normal for the fourth day of march. these temperatures aren't going to change a whole lot wednesday and thursday. we're going we will not warm up a lot because of the cloud cover and the chance for a couple showers. let's look at tomorrow's forecast highs which are going to climb into the mid and upper 50s for most of the bay area. 50s along the coast, temperatures around the bay have spots sneaking up near fremont. the worst for the entire bay area will be 61 in san jose. that is 4 degrees what is below normal for the fourth day of march. these temperatures are not going to change a whole lot wednesday and thursday. we will be 4 to 6 degrees below average with intermittent showers anytime during that timeframe. let's take a look at shower chances. we have the forecast model which shows one batch of showers trying to make a run toward the coast as we head into tomorrow morn

fremont's on up towards milpitas areas like this. definitely seeing some light showers. and this is where most of it's going to stay today. as you can see, the north bay hardly seeing a thing. so the golden gate bridge southward is kind of hard mark haitian line north of there. dry south of there. you're precipitation. potential begins to increase. and that is the forecast. you can see how it stays that way. a couple peeks of sunshine this afternoon. much like yesterday. we will see pockets of heavier rainfall towards the very close of the day today. and as we roll into the evening and tomorrow, those pockets of rain to continue. and we will see a few of those further north. but you can see the impact here. santa rosa, hardly a drop of water. by the time you get down to san jose, we'll be seeing over half an inch of rain while moderate well over an inch big sur well over an inch as well. central valley doing pretty good, but definitely on the south end of the bay area down into the central coast next week. that does change a much more significant system will have a great

with the return of the 60s from fremont all the way into the santa clara valley. and gosh, it was only about 5 or 6 days ago when we were talking about 70 and 80 in the forecast for us down there. so we've been seeing such a change in the forecast recently. and as we continue to watch this system move in from offshore, those offshore showers will stick around for us while we deal with cloudy conditions into the evening hours tonight. now we wake up tomorrow morning with a different issue. we're going to see showers sweep in from the south, this time anywhere up to around a half an inch of rain is expected for us down into the santa clara valley. as we head into our wednesday and thursday forecast that will continue to move its way north into the early morning hours, just around the commute times around 7:08 a.m., making it slick along the peninsula off to the east bay and down into the santa clara valley. and then just offshore, you see that swirling system that's continuing to move just along the coastline. that's an area of low pressure that will continue to bri

and it will be a mild one for us as we make our way down south closer to fremont or all the way down into san jose only topping off in the low 60s. so let's drop the map and let's talk about a couple of things. we have more rain in the forecast for us as head into the coming days. so let's time this out. futurecast showing the first band of rain sweeping in just this afternoon alone. by the time this makes it to the bay area though, look how it dissipates fast. a passing shower or two but mostly just cloudy conditions as we head into the afternoon hours today. catching a little bit of a break before another system from the south sweeps in throughout the santa clara valley as we head into wednesday morning. catching break between that and the next one which arrives as we head into wednesday evening. see that swirl just north of us closer to crescent city all the way up into eureka? that's an area of low pressure and as that sweeps into our local communities, on and off showers in the forecast and daytime highs will dip just a little bit cooler compared to right now. i'll have more on

we do have some light sprinkles around hayward right around fremont. some pretty good rainfall as you're crossing up the snow. great towards dublin. as for areas on the peninsula. once you get off the dumbarton bridge into palo alto spots like that, looking at some solid showers, same down into the south bay. that's pretty much where it's going to stay. this is a south of the golden gate bridge, kind of a vet north of there. we don't see anything until a couple of drops during our overnight hours tonight. you actually see these little pop-up showers moving in across the bay area during your overnight hours wednesday night into thursday morning. some of these could produce some localized heavy rainfall. that will last for only a few moments. and then depart by tomorrow morning. all this rainfall doesn't add up to much in santa rosa, only 100th of an inch. that's hardly a drop where san jose will get over half an inch of it. moderate over one inch of rain. so very much so further south, mostly central coast. as for next week, though, it totally different

for tomorrow and get into when the rain moves in, near 60-degree highs on the warm end of things, fremontdegrees below normal, mid-50s for san francisco and the coast, more typical for early february. now it seems like we're going backwards. these are the temperatures we'll have wednesday and thursday as well, not a whole lot of change, even as rain chances will be evolving through that time frame. intermittent showers kind of fall apart as they move in tomorrow morning. it's going to be hit-or-miss activity. the forecast model indicates a long stretch of dry weather replaced by the best chance of rain late tomorrow night into wednesday. the majority of moisture will be aimed towards the central coast into southern california, going to be a decent snowmaker for the sierra the next couple days. let's look at the forecast rain amounts from futurecast. when you add up the rain over two or three days, you would expect the numbers to go up a decent amount. we're talking about a couple hundredths inch of rain between now and thursday. in the sierra this is going to be a snowmaker. there's going

we could see another quarter inch of rain for areas from fremont to half moon bay on southward, but oncein not expecting a whole lot more rainfall for the north bay as well. as we go into the afternoon as well as tomorrow for the weekend, warmer temperatures coming in high pressure will build. that's going to give us a little brief break from any storm systems moving in, but it won't hold very long because the next storm system arriving on monday could possibly bring us some heavier rainfall, as well as more sierra snow. and for the next couple of days, we could see another 4 to 11in of snow on top of what we're getting right now. but with the additional storms we see next week, we may have a high amount of sierra snow. so just a heads up to plan ahead if you're going there. and in the bay area we're going to see rain, but things clear out just in time for the weekend. so we're making plans to get outside. back to you. all right. good to know. thanks, gary. well, happening now, there is still no deal between vta and its light rail and bus operators. that deal expired midnight yesterday.

a little bit of a light rain, even a moderate rain over some of our hills from hayward, fremont, dublin we shift over towards the santa cruz mountains, we've got some rain falling over boulder creek, scotts valley, and right there along the coastline in santa cruz. earlier this morning we spotted a rain snow mix over mount hamilton, which is right above 4000ft. at least the peak. and take a look here into the sierra, where pollock pines is just below 4000ft, and that shade of pink indicating the rain snow line. so we have the winter weather advisory that continues in the sierra until tomorrow afternoon for us, a high surf advisory that continues until tomorrow night. if you're thinking about heading over towards the coast, heads up. we've got hazardous conditions there. i'll have a better look at the timeline of the system and what we can expect for the afternoon, as well as the week ahead. coming up. >> all right. we'll see you in a bit. rosemary. thank you. topping our news at 8:00 early today, israel announced it's ending the delivery of all humanitarian supplies into the gaza strip.
