stacy cohan joins us from gaithersburg this morning where he apparently planned to meet the underaged girl. >> reporter: good morning to you. 44-year-old wayne mothershead was arrested by police after he traveled to a gaithersburg shopping center where he allegedly planned to engage in sexual conduct with a teenaged girl. now, police say mothershead responded to on-line ads that were placed on myspace and craigslist as part of a police sting. the firefighter is one of more than 20 members of the community, they say, at responded to this police operation. >> there were an exchangeof etch mails. there was an exchange of phone number. there was a confirmation that he understood that she was 16 years old, that he understood that he would be required to pay for any sexual services . he agreed to all of that. >> reporter: mothershea isa 22 year veteran of the montgomery county fire and rescue service. his attorn says there is not enough evidence to substantiate the charge of sexual misconduct, sexual solicitation of a minor. he is scheduled to appear in court here in rockville later today.
