i am a staff member of the galleria.s a recently graduated art history student looking through the work that galleria and its resident artists have produced and almost half a century is to say the least mind blowing. this institution's contribution to the artworld and its communities has paved the way for someone like me to help continue its legacy for another 100 years or more. during a time in which major arts institutions are beginning to understand that diversity and representation can no longer be performative, many art writers are questioning whether small cultural institutions such as the galleria will maintain relevancy in the future. the answer is yes. the expensive archives at many of these institutions are a reminder of what elders within these communities fought for, and what we as a future generation should honor and protect. this is why i stand here today, to ask the historic preservation commission to designate the building that galleria occupied and his billboard as a san francisco landmark to commemorate

i've been on the board of galleria, a curator, and the founder of the digital mural project at galleria. i've come to see the importance of holding space for latino artists, especially when we are not allowed in certain cultural institutions to express ourselves and our cultural values. it is truly heartbreaking to see , and i can't put into words the fact that we are -- we have been evicted. we have not moved on as the owners stated to, we have been evicted and not being given a long term lease, and a point where we are in between spaces. so what i wanted to speak to you today is the importance of the billboard and the public billboard on the side of the building, which i think it is valuable. since 1975, the hosted hundreds of artists to create temporary artworks from issues of native american art, black artists, queer artists of color count they have all painted murals there. we have had teenagers, youth create works at that site. topics on the aids epidemic, to healthy eating, immigration, queer visibility and important issues that have been raised. i believe that my ask is that the

it started at the stones town galleria mall near san francisco stated.et's show you a map and plot out where this chase took place. sfpd told crews on the scene that the driver was a dui suspect, and the chase began around 10:30 p.m. near the stonestown mall off of 19th and winston streets in san francisco. that goes through daly city and ending here near ocean beach. want to show you guys some video from the scene. apparently the officers got out of the car to approach this dui suspect. the suspect reportedly drives off, hitting a sergeant's patrol car. this leads to that high-speed chase we showed you, reaching 80 miles per hour. the chase goes down 280 through daley and pacifica before heading towards the great highway and slope where we're standing near ocean beach. you can see that suspect was taken to a hospital for unknown injuries. really at this time we're working to get more details on potential charges for the suspect. we'll provide you with any new information when we do. >> thanks for the latest, pete. >>> happening today, santa rosa church
