the garridos both in court, just after the attorneys met in the judge's chambers. we noticed that phillips actually was mouthing at one point to his wife, i love you. she looked as if she were going to fight back tears. of course, a very packed courtroom as there were a ton of media from all over the country there. when the judge issued the opportunity to plead, phillip garrido said, very surprisingly, not guilty. both he and nancy. this apparently stemming from some legal questions raised by phillip's attorney susan gilman and a motion over the selection process of the grand jury back in september. we did hear from verne pearson about that and he says that this is a very normal process. the judge selections the grand jurors and it's typical routine in this county and every other county in the state of california for the defense to file a motion challenging that process of the grand jury. so defense is trying to get their clients better situation legally, and that's typical. on the selection of the grand jury process, this is something they are going to be watching
