good evening, i'm gasia mikaelian in for julie haener. >> news of that shooting just broke in the last two hours. we've learned that the stepdaughter of a gilroy police officer accidently shot herself at home with her father's gun. the shooting happened around 3:00 at their home on el cerrito way. we get this developing news from maureen naylor. she's live outside gilroy police headquarters. what can you tell us? >> reporter: i spoke with police in the laugh last hour, they tell me this was not the officer's service weapon, but his personally owned gun. this all started about 3:00 this afternoon, when gilroy police and fire were called to the officer's home, where he lives with his stepdaughter on the 500 block of el cerrito, after getting reports that the teen girl shot herself in the leg. once there, emergency crews realized it was the home of a police officer. the girl was given first aid, and taken to a trauma center. police say she will survive and is stable. police say their initial investigation indicates she was able to access the officer's personal firearm, and accidently fire
