so, as we track not only gaston which wave heights underneath gaston are 27 feet they do wane quite a bit as they push to the west but we're still seeing increased wave heights philadelphia down to the eastern seaboard and also this is expected to become a tropical storm just off of the carolinas and that will be heading out to sea but it will also add to the swells pushing against the shore line and in fact, that rip current danger is moderate and looks remain that way through much of the week. all those waves pile up against the shore line, what piles up must rush back out somewhere along the coast and that's when a rip current develops. when you see a rip current the water is a little more foggy in nature and if you ever caught in a rip current you do not want to fight it. let it take you out and eventually it is going to ease and then you'll go to the right or to the left of that returned rip current... rip current and ride the wave back to shore. always swim when the beaches are guarded during the day. now that the kids are back to school many of the beaches are not guarded brian
