when she walked out on stage, she came out with gayle king and didn't say much, but boy, did she dazzled. she was dressed to kill in that gorgeous blue sequinned dress. her hair was done. her makeup. she was smiling ear to ear. she thanked oprah for her friendship over the years. she's known oprah for about three decades and thanked oprah for teaching her the truth. this is one of the highlight of the night. oprah chimed in and said here's to the truth and guess what, carol? the audience just rose to its feet, applauded, embraced maria, you're really, really felt for her. no specific reference to the scandal, of course, but you could tell they really appreciated her coming out on this huge night. >> oh, yeah, no need at all. there are a lot of rumors flying around, like i heard that when maria shriver got the news that the scandal would break and would become public, she was eating with oprah winfrey. >> well, we know that she did dine with oprah on monday at a chicago restaurant. maria's children were there. and it's not surprising. again, they have a long friendship. they go way back

. >> i sat on the side of stedman and also gayle on the other side of there and maria shriver and in b.b. wian and sicily was on the other side. she had so many guests. >> imagine the whiplash if you were there in the audience. in case you were one of the few who missed the shows, madonna, will smith, aretha franklin, usher, tom hanks, tom cruise, that's just to name a few. but one of the most moving moments certainly for oprah, she calls it one of her favorite moments of all time, was this moment here and you see the -- look at that. 400 plus men from morehouse university, walked on to the stage carrying candles while the broadway star christin chenoweth performed. she put all these students through school. this is just a fraction of the thousands of people she has put through school over her 25 years. it is the only time i saw her nearly sa lsob like that. we spoke to dr. oz and nate berkus. oz, some are calling him the next oprah, about what he learned from oprah winfrey and his greatest lesson he learned from her, was to listen. >> my biggest weakness of all, without any question

oprah: i heard you on the "gayle king show" the other day say that malia was gonna have to start doing laundry, and i went, "really?" >> yeah, yeah. i mean, first of all, what else does she have to do, you know? oprah: homework and stuff. >> you know what? that gets done. and it gets done, and then what, you know? because they have limited tv time and computer time, and they spend time with their friends, but there's still a lot of time to learn something that's productive, and grandma still does her own laundry at the white house, so she's gonna be in charge of laundry duty because i don't do my laundry. i know how to do my laundry. oprah: yeah. you don't have to learn that. >> i learned that lesson. she may do my laundry, malia, but again, she has to learn how to do that, and i don't want her tobe that ki be 15, 16 and be that kid, "i've never done laundry before." i would cringe if she became that kid. oprah: i don't think that's gonna happen. i think that you're doing an amazing--you, too--but you're doing an amazing job of raising them. they're still so themselves. they're so them
