in the north bay an investigation is now underway into a fire that was near geyserville including the possibility that it could have been started by downed power lines. it burned about ten acres near the cal pine geothermal plant. other spot fires breaking out in livermore. both burning about an acre before crews got them under control. of course all of this really made worse by the extreme wind conditions we have been seeing. hopefully those are going to calm down before things in the santa cruz mountains get worse today. we will watch it, lynn. >>> our team coverage continues with darre, inanthe stngth he n th acag down fast enough. so, the worst of the winds came through in the overnight and the early mornings. when we saw a lot of those fires get sparked. it's pretty much across the state right now. the west slope of the sierra nevada has its share as well. if you look at the winds behind me, those flags aren't moving as violently as they were. let me get specific and show you what some of the wind speeds look like. we will advance ahead for just looking at the live view. i will p

the wind was also to blame for a fire that could have quickly burned out of control in geyserville.u're looking at what started as a 10 to 15-acre brush fire that officials say was caused by a downed power line. this is near the geo plant area off of geyser are resort road. the fire began around 9:00 last night. thankfully it started in the valley and not a high wind mountain ridge. by the looks of it, it could have quickly burned out of control, so back out here live in santa rosa, a lot of damage for this particular home, driving in, coming from san francisco, up to sonoma, i could feel my car shaking and i saw a lot of debris coming on to this particular street. if you're in this vicinity, you may want to come out a little early just to make sure everything is all right and keep a close eye on those power lines with that strong wind. there's a chance the power lines could be down, and it could still be active. again, if you see any damage, be sure to send it our way. we'd love to see and let some of your neighbors know what's happening in your area. my twitter and facebook, cierr

firefighters are getting a handle on a brush fire in the hills east of geyserville.ttered leaves and branches. the home was damaged in santa rosa by a massive downed tree. the bay area is under a high wind warning until 10:00 a.m. >>> speaking of that high wind warning we can take a look outside. the flag is getting moved around. that's the flag on top of the fairmont hotel. that is the view from our camera. so, how are the winds doing? they are just as bad as they have been all morning. they are sustained in the mid- 30s mile an hour range. it'll stay like this for the next few hours and once we get past the early afternoon the winds will start to relax. watch what happens past noon. the colors start to fade. then the wind advisory will be allowed to expire past 6:00 p.m. for right now we are stuck with this for the next few hours kind of at peak intensity. be careful if you have to get on the roadway. there will be some fly debris out there that could catch you off guard. >>> we have been dealing that all morning long. we have got a trouble spot with a lane closure
