to glen canyon park. and of course, another unique feature in the neighborhood is the creek runs under the park and the only remaining remnant is the free-flowing peace within glen canyon park. the plan proposes conducting a study to see if there is opportunity for daylighting or raising the creek. there are concerned about what this might do or not do but that is the idea of conducting a story -- study to see about feasibility. in terms of the land use aspects, it is a pretty low-key plan in terms of development compared to the other plans. this is a page from the city's general plan that talks about the different plan areas and how many units are expected. in glen park we're projecting 100 units. this is a big development plan. the existing zoning in the area is nc2 in the core village neighborhood district. neighborhood commercial, small scale. surrounded by residential rh1 and rh2 zoning and public parcels. the plan addresses the neighborhood commercial zoning and focuses on that. that is 80 parcels.

it is in regard to glen canyon park plan, the improvement plan. i just wanted to come and personally do a quick summary and ask if the commissioners -- i know it is a three-page letter, and i know that is difficult to get through. i tried to organize it -- it is a complicated situation, and i hope that someone has had the chance to look through their and make some sort of response. the main issue there is that the park planners seem to have taken a very big jump in the initial eliciting of public comment. i understand that it is the job of planners to come up with some sort of an initial plan to work with, by one all the possible plans for the improvement of glen canyon park include the eradication, removal, destruction of a very long line of mature eucalyptus trees -- actually, possibly, a couple of monterey cypress on the hill -- without asking specifically in these meetings -- how important were those to the public? that question was never answered. all the possible plans not only could the destruction of them, but very -- i want to say -- well

the glen park plan. many projects related to the puc water system improvement project and the largest of those being the calaveras dam. eir's in midstream include the transit center plan, the academy of arts, cpm see, the mexican museum, and the western soma plan. all of which should be coming to you with this fiscal year. the environmental planning staff has done a lot of work this year related to the bay area air quality management district. and those regulations which have taken an enormous amount of time this year and have affected a lot of development projects. there has been some recent court rulings on the case which we will be bringing to you shortly in the next few weeks. on the legislation side, a few highlights. the restaurant legislation that you recently passed on to the board, student housing work and the first safe building ordinance are three of the highlights we are seeing. we're seeing a record of number of legislative proposals by the board. we're seeing 40 or 50 pieces of legislation
