and >> aim angie goff with breaking news. a gunman opened fire at emmanuel ame church in downtown charleston south carolina last night around 9:00 p.m. local time. so far 9 confirmed dead. police are searching for the gunman considered extremely dangerous. benji sarlin is in charleston with the latest. what do we know? >> right now, the focus is entirely on the certainly for the alleged gunman. police say they have a suspect. they are searching for him who is 21 years old, sandy blonde hair is, slight build and they're asking people to give any help they can in locating this person. one thing we did notice recently is helicopters have started circling again, something they did shortly after the shooting but stopped for a while indicating there may be a search of some kind. police say they will give an update at 7:00 a.m. in charleston and perhaps we will have more information either on the victims or the suspect. >> okay. thanks so much. msnbc's benji sarlin with us will be with us throughout the morning. a prayer service wil

. >>> i'm angie goff. we have video in from georgia after a man shot four people including his parents. take a look. this was the scene outside the gas station. the station that police say jeffrey scott pitts walked into and shot the store clerk as well as other customers. now, the clerk and another man died. officials say that it happened after the clerk took pitts' i.d. he shot his parents after he returned home and then police arrived at his house. the deputies fired back and shot and killed the suspect. >>> alexis just mentioned this montgomery county road that's shut down after the deadly accident there. it was a head-on crash that happened overnight after derwood. you can see the damage caused by the impact on both cars here. one driver was rushed to the hospital. the other was pronounced dead at the scene. we are working to see if someone else was inside the black car there. it has an uber sticker in the window. >>> one person is dead and three others hurt after a drive by shooting at a prince georg

. >> i'm angie goff. chuck, we're still dealing with some problems out there. >> oh, man it will take a little while to get all the creeks and streams back into their banks and get everything dried out a bit. crazy record breaking amounts of rainfall yesterday. two to three inches or more was common in many areas. still some flood advisories coastal flood advisory along the tidal, potomac and washington area. flooding in the pools area in montgomery area, northern frederick and northwestern carroll county. and along the tidal -- along the chesapeake bay as well. as far as rainfall, the last of the drops now on the lower parts of the eastern shore, they're moving away from us. so again we're dry now -- well, dry, nothing coming out of the sky. everything is saturated from yesterday's rain. temperatures are in the cool 60s this morning. increasing amounts of sunshine and then an increasing westerly breeze. highs today upper 70s to near 80. how long can this nice weather last? we'll find out coming up. >>> w
