you can see the golden gate and bay bridges without any impediment. so we definitely are seeing a cool, just clear, crisp morning, the sierra side decent amount of snowfall over the weekend. you're still seeing some snow, especially for the southern sierra nevada, which really needed it the most. so this last storm system and the ones ahead of us are impacting the areas that really desperately need that rainfall, which includes central and southern california. i mentioned those winds breezy us out towards the coast. we are seeing them starting to relax and will continue to see that through the day today. temperature wise, it's a cool, crisp, clear morning temperatures mostly down in the 40's. oakland at 48 degrees. sonoma at 39 fairfield and vacaville up in the upper 30's right now as we do move into the afternoon. do expect these clear conditions to last today definitely stays dry later on in this forecast, we do have another opportunity for rainfall and also mention that here to come. >> it's across the bay bridge right now. you can see no backups w

look at the golden gate bridge, all that fog that is rolling in through the golden gate right now that seabreeze has kicked back in. that can really help to cool things down. the same time we still have some storms up the coastline that are generating some large swells. so we have a high surf advisory go into effect tomorrow morning and continuing all the way until monday. be careful out at the beaches. it's gonna be a lot cooler out there. probably not gonna want to go out the water, but boy, you've got some big waves coming on shore. meantime, though, we've got that area low pressure spinning through southern california. some of those high clouds wrapping back around moving into the bay area today. again, that fog begin to surge back on shore, lower levels. but but the storm front off the coastline is this right here that will likely bring some rain to the bay area as we head in toward tomorrow afternoon and evening. that's when we expect the first showers move in. but we could see a little drizzle early tomorrow morning, too. so if you're heading out early on along the coastline, wa

here's a look over the golden gate bridge where we do have mostly blue skies. we had mid and high level clouds joining us at times, and that comingd/ from this low you see kind of parked off point conception. notice the wraparound moisture coming into the bay area. it's shifting farther south this afternoon. and that's why we have more blue sky than what we started with earlier today. but if you looked up and saw all those clouds, you know where they're coming from. at this point, the winds are generally light and closer to the coast. we're actually a little bit cooler today, even down by seven degrees at half moon bay. so you're feeling a difference down by six sfo, but then you go inland and we are up by ten, even 11 degrees over areas like livermore and concord where we are near 80 degrees this afternoon. so a record breaking and near record breaking heat for some 79 in walnut creek. in fact, a 77 is the standing record for san jose. so we'll have to see if the national weather service, what they register the afternoon for the airport there in san jose in th

slight breeze just north of the golden gate bridge, but it is a bit on the breezy side if you head on towards the tri valley. so this is the area of low pressure. see, it's spinning its wheels right there, right now. it's bypassing the reno area. it's now making tracks towards utah. that's what provided us with the precipitation yesterday and also the gusty winds. now we have this area of low pressure and it looks quite beefy, but it doesn't really have a lot of precipitation associated with it. in fact, as we zoom on in on the bay area, we see the clouds stacking up just east of i-5. but these are the clouds are going to shear off increase, and it will become mostly cloudy tonight. we know that because take a look at our future cast by 7:00 tonight. mostly cloudy skies here in the bay area. sun up tomorrow morning at 636. mostly cloudy skies. and here comes just some pop up showers around mendocino county, ukiah, hopland. and then you see just enough to wet the pavement before we clear out by tuesday night. and then the second chunk of this system tries to work its way into our area

but we are seeing the heaviest rain this time south of the golden gate bridge, so the north b may onlyew hundredths of an inch of rain over the next couple of days. while in palo alto, we could see about a quarter inch of rain and possibly about a half inch in some parts of the east bay. looking at sierra snow, it's going to be about 3 to 6in over the next few days and the weekend is looking nice. everything clears up, temperatures warm up, but it will be cold in the mornings. starting out with some upper 30s but headed for the upper 60s and we'll see some more significant, possibly stronger storms next week. and mike, you're saying that even though it's tuesday, it looks like it's flowing on schedule? yeah, it's on schedule. that doesn't mean it's clear. it just means it's moving well to the bay bridge toll plaza where the backup is here, built up right on, as we expect, slowing down the east shore freeway at the bridge from richmond over to san rafael and highway 37, highway four behind me. a note here, that green highlighting up here. that's where kerry's been talking about that rai

now everything is about to change again, as we're seeing some of that fog sneaking into the golden gate bridge. look at that. looking like that summer pattern outside going to see more of that overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning. and they're going to see the clouds thicken up. we're gonna get some storm clouds moving in by tomorrow. late in the day. today's almanac at 71 degrees today. well, above the average of 62 here in san francisco record on the state. 76 not quite there, but still impressive sunrise time 6.42. your sunset now 603. in the evening. high pressure still holding on that low pressure kind of cut underneath that brought us more high clouds going make for a nice sunset tonight. we've got that storm system right behind it. is that one that's going to bring us some rain as we head toward saturday evening here in the bay area and then showers likely continue on and off as we head in towards sunday the long-range forecast models picking up on it too. showers moving in as we head toward the evening hours. so not a washout for your saturday. if you want to get out there and

north bay this time around will get lighter amounts compared to what we'll see south of the golden gate bridge and the possibility of about a quarter inch of rainfall. while we get a little bit of rain, the sierra gets some beneficial snow anywhere from five to up to 11in of snow for kirkwood. and that's all happening before we hit the weekend. possibly more snow coming next week. so we're looking at a very active storm pattern that will continue here. and it looks like those temperatures stay on the low side at least through much of the workweek. those overnight lows this weekend. as it clears out we'll drop down to the 30s, but our highs recover into the mid to upper 60. looks sunny friday and saturday, but then rain chances coming back on sunday and near the coast and in san francisco. we're staying in the 50s through wednesday and seeing those temperatures climbing little by little each day. but saturday is going to be the best day this week, marcus. so i think that's some pretty good timing when you say the weekend is going to be the best day of t the week, i think we're all excited about

a crowd hung an upside down flag across from the golden gate bridge. protesters also lined up along the side of the road this weekend outside president trump's club in palm beach, florida. then there's also what happened in the national parks this weekend. check this out. this was in yosemite national park in california, also on the edge of the grand canyon in arizona, at the saint louis arch, in missouri, at the at bar harbor, maine, just outside acadia national park. there were save our parks protests at more than 100 different national parks all over the country this weekend, protesting the firing of parks employees by the trump white house. and when i say it was all over the country, i mean it. they were really all over the place. this was denali national park in alaska, the arches national park in utah, valley forge national historic park in pennsylvania. those folks standing out in the snow were protesting at the indiana dunes national park. this was outside rocky mountain national park in northern colorado. people lined up on the side of the roa

let's zoom in on the golden gate in the bay bridge where we're seeing a few sprinkles here. and there. that's really all it is. it is nothing to cancel any plans over now that low pressure sitting well to the north is the one that is going to result an ever increasing rainfall. potential as we move into tomorrow. and then wednesday night into thursday morning. that's when we're going to see some heavier rain building in from the south and west. and this right here. it's really settled upon the central coast into southern california. so we're at the northern tier of some rainfall potential. that means the further north you get in the bay tomorrow and thursday, the lighter your rainfall totals can be expected. take a look at areas like santa rosa in oakland tomorrow in thursday's rain, less than a 10th of an inch. that's really light stuff where as you head south of san jose and you've got over an inch of it. so by comparison, the south bay is a whole different story as well as the central coast next week we see ever increasing rainfall into monday, which will be much more rai
