before we get there, jennifer griffin is coming up from the pentagon. share with you what we're getting from the country throughout ukraine today. focus has been on mariupol the last couple hours. a good reason for that. because of the air strike that hit that hospital. you can see the devastation. we showed you just a moment ago. these are satellite images from the town of mariupol, not the exact location. these are stores and a shopping mall. this is the before picture that was taken in june of 2021. this is where it is today. from march 9. again, look at this building. entirely -- it's reduced to nothing. that's what mariupol has been facing more than a week. that city has been shelled constantly. 24 hours a day. no food, no water. no electricity. no phones. none of that is operating in mariupol. we're minutes away from the pentagon. we'll get more questions about this. ukraine warns that the u.s. and nato will have to confront putin one way or another. is that the case? this is after the pentagon rejected poland's offer to sent jets to a german base

thank you commissioner griffin. other commissioners? yes, commissioner jones. >> i'll try to keep it brief as well. i just wanted to echo the sentiment we heard from a lot of people where it hit me so hard to hear how divisive and extreme this issue was and you know, it brought up that there are a lot of big issues facing everyone in san francisco right now. i just think that this one item kind of became my microcosm of a lot of things that are facing us in the city and really serious issues of accessibility, about equity, traffic violence, all of this stuff. so they're big serious issues. we live in a city that is diverse and what that means is we are going to have a lot of people with a lot of different needs and you know, we're never going to always be able to hit every single person's need and that being said, because i also heard a lot of words about compromise and from my perspective, this is a compromise. correct me if i'm wrong, but there is no permit car-free space in the city, of this capacity. we don't have any streets of thi
