grimm's career for a long time. thanks for being here. >> my pleasure. >> based on what you have learned covering congressman grimm, is indictment the expected next step or is this a mystery? >> no, i think the indictment has been expected to are a while now. people that i've talked to expect it to come down. the question is what charges are involved. is it related to campaign financing? the truth is since he's left the fbi and even since he's gone to congress he has been sort of adjacent to so many accusations that you almost don't know which ones will be in the indictment. >> one of the things that make him memorable is because of this volcanic temper, the stories and also the on camera evidence of it. is that aspect of his personality key to the sorts of things that he has been associated with during all of these different investigations and other -- both journalistic and legal investigations? >> i would say a lot of the accusations are not strictly related to him having a serious temper which undoubtedly he does

grimm is innocent, he will be vindicated. he said "mr. grimm will continue to serve his constituents until he is vindicated." there was no talk of him resigning from congress, despite the pending indictment. and the news today of the congressman's pending indictment on, the one hand, honestly, it feels like not that big of a deal. after all, he is a new york politician, and new york politicians are always getting indicted. usually, though, that is new york politicians in albany. in the state capitol, who are usually the ones getting indicted. michael grimm is an actual member of congress. he works in washington. and members of congress don't end up getting indicted and going to prison all that often. to be fair, actually, maybe that depends on the meaning of the phrase "all that often." former congressman jesse jackson jr. is in prison right now. the illinois democrat is serving 2.5 years for using campaign money to buy himself awesome stuff like, for example, one of michael jackson's old fedoras. also, former louisiana congressman willia

grimm is under indictment.gned from his committee assignment and i think he made the right decision. >> you're not ruling out backing someone else. >> i think he made the right decision. >> joining me now is washington bureau chief for buzzfeed, john stanton. it is an awkward position for speaker john boehner. is there anything the gop leadership can do about this guy at this point? >> no, i don't think so. there's a pretty well established pattern on both side, frankly. nancy pelosi has done this. speaker boehner has done this in the past. if you do something that involves taking your pants off, you get in trouble for that. you have to resign. if you do something that involves money or criminal allegations, generally speaking as long as you keep your head down, resign from a committee, you can stay around until you get found guilty of something. it's become essentially the rule of thumb in the house and in the senate, you know, sexual allegations are one thing. you can sort of slide over another allegation. >>

michael grimm was poised for success as an entrepreneur. in 2007 as the restaurant took off, michael grimm had a choice and it's a choice faced by every business owner in america. run your business legitimately or honestly or succumb to the lure of easy money and cheat his way to success and michael grimm made the choice to go from upholding the law to breaking it. in so doing he turned his back on every oath he had ever taken. grimm embraced the crime of paying undocumented workers who he could pay in cash and off the books. let me be clear. one can pay workers in cash but cash wages still have to be reported. so money is withheld for social security and medicare and correct w-2s are issued and so business tax returns are accurate and also so that unemployment insurance premiums are accurately assessed. when it came to his restaurant, michael grimm never met a tax he didn't lie to evade. in addition to lying about his payroll, grimm is alleged to have lied to the taxing authorities about how much money the business took in overall. failing
