a moderate winter storm system will impact the region today and saturday with gusty winds and a period of moderate to heavy snow in the sierra. a mix of rain and snow is expected for the lower valleys. early next week, drier weather for suspects in connection with a robbery and shooting at an abandoned apartment building off wedekind but they say they've they believe were also involved. 21-year-old darius jones was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of stolen property. 25-year-old christina rooney is charged with trafficking, possession child endangerement. police say rooney and man targeted a couple complex near the intersection of sutro road wednesday night. they say the female was struck by one of the suspects and the man was shot with non-life threatening injuries. "strong suspicion if you're working through this breezeway in an abandoned apartment complex and all of a sudden two guys come out the presumption is maybe they were set up for this robbery." police say the suspects ran to an apartment on nearby patton drive. jones and rooney were taken into custo

gusty winds are expected again on tuesday, especially in the immediate lee of the northern sierra. another system is new this morning... sparks police have arrested a man who they say intentionally set his apartment on fire. 20-year-old tristan dufurrena is charged with first degree arson. the sparks fire deparment responded to reports of smoke coming from an apartment on merchant street, near rock boulevard just before 9:30 last night. they say it appeared a fire was set in the apartment but had been put out. police later found dufurrena and started the fire. he's also charged with obstructing a peace officer and posession of drug paraphernalia. his bail is set at 21- thousand dollars. another fire is under investigation after police found a motorhome completely engulfed in flames on yori avenue, near gentry way around 8:30 last night. when fire crews arrived they say no one was inside the motorhome and no suspects were in the area. police are looking for a man who they say robbed a reno baskin robbins over the weekend. police say a man wearing a knit-hat and a black bandana over
