hagerstown is 74.again, right now they have thunderstorms between frederick and hagerstown in progress. here's the culprit. there is this stalled front reaching out over the bay and then complicating the issue, a weak cold front approaching from the midwest. here's a jet stream inrolved here. the difference in the tropical moisture could combine for sploseyiffer -- explosive weather this afternoon. earlier that resulted in weak tornadoes outside baltimore. new england, the chesapeake bay region and into the coastal areas rains. primary theat in our area -- threat in our area, a tornado or two. that's not the biggest part of the threat, but it is possible. a chance for thunderstorms. winds and thunderstorms are a chance. we will probably fall short of 87, but we'll be in that range somewhere. there is, starting at 2 clock, a flash flood watch in effect. that's because of the heavy rain potential in our area. and here's that rain chance moving through this afternoon and this evening. then it will dry out

in hagerstown, it feels like we're at 90 degrees. no watches and warnings for the immediate area or for the state. they keep popping up here and there up to the north of us. we're seeing flash flood warnings for parts of pennsylvania in york and lancaster counties because of the thunderstorms. they're the pop up variety. what's happening is you have the heat and humidity. things just get more unstable and atmosphere can't hold it. you get the storms developing that go through and dump a quick quarter to maybe a half inch of rain wherever they land aand they cool down a bit. it goes on its merry way and pops up somewhere else. temperature huff wise, baltimore 77, but look at laurel. you can tell they just had a storm pass through. they are quite a bit cooler that be, say, annapolis, which is still in the 08s. what we're looking at for the satellite radar composite, we have the cloud cover this' built throughout the day and the storms start to pop up. then we have a little cold front that is sliding through in the overnight hours. that

because of that we have a flash flood watch in effect through late tonight for everywhere from hagerstown eastward. flash flood in warnings: orange is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 7:00 p.m. tonight but it looks like the bigger threat, but rain and flooding is a threat for everyone. we have a cold front coming in from the west. it's gotten very stopped up because of hurricane bill offshore. you can see the bands here. that's hurricane bill. it's not coming in even though it's closing storm of the beaches because of incredibly high tides and also the huge risk for those riptides. and we're also seeing some bands of it starting to make their way into cape cod but the thing is it won't make landfall because of the front that's bringing us the flooding rains. so this front is going to eventually deflect bill, back out to sea. as you can see it's still making its way to the north- northwest right now at 24 miles per hour but it eventually will turn more northward and then to the northeast. winds have come down but still 86 miles per hour. and it's looking like it's losing some st

hagerstown is already having a new batch of rain. this one again, moving west to east, across the state, right around berkeley springs. very strong thunderstorm right now. and that will continue moving off to the east at 15 to 20 miles per hour. not very quickly here. let's switch it over and tell you what we've got going on overall. starting today, we had clouds. then as we moved through the day, we did see some of the thunderstorms fire up. and also, we've seen a lot of rain coming out of those thunderstorms, too. that is one of the issues that we're dealing with. the other thing, too, the humidity is remaining very high with all of this in place. temperatures not as much of an issue today, with all of the rain around. but take a look at the winds. they're coming from all different directions. they are light. and the moisture is really building up with that. dew points most of the day have been in the 70s. just dropping to 68 right now. temperature-wise, 85 right now in baltimore. that's our high spot so far today. and actually, th
