how will you deal with the folks that hang out on haight street and the issue of homelessness? >> well, i think that's a real -- it's a city-wide issue and i think part of what we have to do is work together to deal with it, just like public safety. it's a work in progress. it's not something that you fix and you move on. it's something that you continue to work with. i mean, san francisco is an attractive place to people in general, so, we are going to get folks from all over, homeless, nonhomeless, and i think part of the balance is making sure that social service agencies that provide support to homeless individuals are available, that they have the resources they need, but they're held accountable to working and talking to folks who are interested in services. and the other issue is that, you know, we do have, sadly, an increase in crime in the area as a result of an increase in the homeless population. and, so, having a police presence, which we've had, park station has been really active in not only being out there and enforcing the law, but doing what police are not requ

i know that we have a number of speakers but can i ask you to talk about the one on haight that may not continue -- i think it's on haight street and any concerns that have a risen over the years and concerns over parklets. >> yes, great question. there was a parklet that went on in haight street and the applicant lost the lease and there was a dispute over the business and we tried to work with the new owners and the old owner and it wasn't maintained and the owners wanted us to wait until the litigation is over and asked them to remove it. there was a public hearing and said the parklet should be removed and the parklet has been removed and i just want to say i think it's really important when we go to neighborhoods and we sort of -- part of the argument for the spaces is they're temporary and if things aren't working we can take them out and in this case this is an example of one that wasn't working and for us to go to neighborhoods and put the spaces in we need to work with the people that we're talking to and the neighborhoods and remove them is part of the deal. if you're not taki

so, as an example of what some of these mean on the 71 haight, the outer part of hagis also faced with a lot of crowded conditions and we're trying to put more service on that segment. how we're trying to do that, how we propose to do that, [speaker not understood] a windy route through the residential area to go straight up stanley into haight and that, of course, means we're going to need to put overhead wires from the port [speaker not understood]. that's example of a service capital project that we're going to have to do to ma the ~ come true. [speaker not understood]. we developed, we call it a tool kit of 18 different treatments that the city has done over the last 40 years basically independently on specific projects that could go to address improving and giving buses priority on city streets. and we developed this tool kit. it's been part -- traditionally it's been part of what's called the san francisco preferential streets program. it is now part of this larger tep process. we use the tool kit to develop these intersections specific proposals you'll see on the ttrp corridors

haight streets. that's near golden gate park. kron four's mike pelton is live at the scene with an update, mike? mike >>: that it happened right behind me here. two men were responsible for the double standing. they do not have a good description of the suspects but they say they fled the area and at some type of more road a vehicle northbound on cnn. this all began early this morning our route to 20 when several witnesses saw the stabbing and caught 911. some sort of confrontation took place in police say the suspects that an adult woman believed to be in her '40's and the chest and another man in his 20s or 30s and abdomen. both transported to s.f. general with life- threatening injuries. authority's do not have a motive in this case but they are looking at surveillance video from several nearby businesses to help them to identify the suspect. at this point, obviously we know there was some sort of confrontation but we don't know of any possible connection between the suspect and victim. back to you. >>darya: thanks a lot like.
