halle jackson is outside of the stadium. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, lester. we are getting word this morning that this measles outbreak still a concern from coast to coast, with news that a student in new york boarded an amtrak train at penn station, one of the busiest strain stations in the country. here in arizona at the super bowl, officials are monitoring any public health threats, so for for example, keeping an eye on any spikes in visits to urgent care centers. that's pretty standard for any big event like the super bowl but may take on special importance given this latest outbreak. today, thousands of people are arriving in phoenix for the country's most watched game during a closely watched measles outbreak. about a thousand people are being monitored in arizona after they may have been exposed to the virus, and now with neighboring california reporting 12 new cases in just the last couple days, there's concern it could spread. >> i wouldn't take an infant less than 1 year old to the super bowl, or anywhere actually, where there was an outbreak of mea

nbc's halle jackson hats very latest from that hospital. >> reporter: tamron this children's health clinic here in mesa has signs up talking about the symptoms of measles so people know what to look for and warning folks that if you have any of these signs of the disease you should put a mask on and tell the receptionist right away. another sign of just how one case, one person coming to this clinic with the virus could put potentially exponentially many more people at risk. this morning some 200 people who may have been exposed to meatles are monitoring their children and themselves after adults infected with the virus visited health care centers in california and in arizona where the brushes live. >> i've been informed it was an adult woman who was unvaccinated that exposed my child at a facility for high-risk children. it's bad because it's preventible. >> reporter: a california man who visited the labor and delivery floor of a fresno hospital told health officials he thinks he was immunized when younger but he became infect with the virus anyway. a simple measles shot can be 95% effect

halle jackson has more. >> five planes made emergency landings in all in at least three different places. the alarms raised after bomb threats including some posted to twitter targeted the flights. >> i was shocked. >> two flights evacuated after landing in seattle when officials receive reports of possible bomb threats. >> when i was getting off the plane, i asked the pilot what happened. he said they were informed of two planes with bomb threats. >> flying from long beach, california and one from phoenix were mid-air when they received the threats. both landed safely in seattle. they cleared the planes and all passengers and crew of security concerns. >> this is the first time i had aircraft fairly close in arrival time for them to be considered a security situation. >> another reported bomb threat from los angeles to orlando. forcing passengers to land in dallas texas. the pilot made the announcement during the flight. >> he said we need to land the plane immediately. we believe there is a security threat with the plane. somebody tweeted in a bomb threat. >> they are referencing sever

let's get the latest from nbc's halle jackson joins us from mesa arizona. rter: good morning, jose. i'm good. listen arizona public health officials now say 1,000 people may have been exposed to measles from the seven cases, these seven patients in the state who became infected with the virus. one of those patients actually visited this children's clinic here in mesa and, remember measles is incredibly contagious. just that one case can put exponentially more people at risk for catching the disease. >> amazing to think about. >> this 4-month-old is under quarantine today, too young for the measles vaccine but one of more than 200 people who may have been exposed to the virus at a phoenix children's facility. >> infuriating to know all she did was go a doctor's appointments she has to go to, and she was exposed. >> reporter: arizona health officials expect to see even more measles patients as part of a national outbreak now affecting noornaffect ing more than 90 people. most linked to disneyland. visitors who caught the virus returned home and in some cases s

halle jackson is in glendale. how concerned are officials there?er: jose federal health officials say it is not that the measles vaccine isn't working, it is just that it is not being used. the cdc describing the latest outbreak as a wakeup call. here in phoenix, they're listening. arizona has seven cases of people with measles. the state is monitoring about 1,000 others that may have come into contact with those folks, making sure they don't come down with measles as well. most of the thousand have probably been vaccinated. those that haven't been are asked to stay home three weeks, stay away from work school keep the kids out of daycare if that's what it takes so others don't become infected. experts say it is the best way to stop the outbreak in its tracks. health officials estimate that 14 states confirmed cases of measles. most cases are linked to disneyland in southern california where the outbreak is believed to have begun. the cdc believes someone from overseas was patient zero began the transmission and it spread from there. here in arizon
