what is going on with this area of low pressure that started out over the weekend down off of cape hatteras. this thing would normally move quickly across the region, however as you can see it's taking it's sweet old time throughout the day bringing heavy amounts of rainfall to the area. some places as much as three inches. most places have gotten about a half inch to three quarters of an inch. we'll show you the rainfall from our storm weather in a second. but the system is making it's way toward the north bringing heavy rain to northern pennsylvania and the finger area of new york. now on the larger picture, once the system gets out of here, some pretty decent weather sliding in. tomorrow we'll see cloudy skies around as we gradually move away. but there is a chance tomorrow afternoon we could see a pop-up shower across the area. right now the shower is in the process of falling apart and again the flash flood warning in affect until 8:30 for baltimore county and hartford county. and we have 59 in reisterstown. and chestertown right now 62. take a look at rainfall amounts. parkville, 0.03

water temperatures range from about 74 degrees off cape hatteras to the dry tortugas and the floridays into the 80s. meanwhile into the northeast looks pretty good. we were talking earlier this morning about shark sightings, one possibly a great white shot off cape cod, where water temperatures there will be into the 60s. outside temperatures on the beach will be in the 70s. stay out of the water if you're not too keen on the sharks. meanwhile, again it looks like it will be a nice day for you but if you happen to be out in california the firefighters are still having their work cut out for them, talking about high temperatures along the coast in the 60s and 70s but in those inland valleys, the spots, the canyons where they're battling the blaze, the high uphill slopes. high temperatures into the 90s and possibly 100s. strong winds into the afternoon, too, funneling through the canyons, topping 30 miles an hour so they certainly have their work cut out for them. that is the latest on the forecast. we send it back to you guys at the desk. >> thank you, reynolds. >> as always we apprec

cape hatteras is at 70 degrees at this hour. here's a look at the satellite- radar for our region. much to show you. there's a little fog up to the north and west in portions of pennsylvania and a few clouds there as well, but for the most part things look fine in our region and they will for today. here's why. high pressure, it's not right in over us, it's well out to the north and west. but it's a large ridge of high pressure that is giving us quiet conditions today, letting our temperatures warm up again. yesterday we were 83. today we'll get a tad warmer than that. and what do i want to say, yeah, today's high temperate will be five degrees above normal. so the forecast for today and the next five days. 85 today, 85 tomorrow. cold front comes through tuesday night, drops our temperatures for wednesday, thursday ghs only in the 70s an should bring some rain with it as well late tuesday into wednesday probably during the day on thursday and possibly on friday. >> well, the nice thing about the next couple of days, it's still cool enough to sleep during the night. >> like 4:00 thi

most of the showers are just offshore from cape hatteras.e you live to norfolk. here's what it looks like. the rain has been out there, steady at times overnight last night through this morning. skies are beginning to brighten, but i think it may be a sucker hole. more showers this afternoon. could be heavy at times, especially later today as more squalls come in off the tlachbt ick. what about the next 48 hours? most of the rain in that region. norfolk, that pink color, about two to three inches of rain a possibility over the next two days. that's why we have a flash flood watch all of the areas in dark green. away from the east coast, near the great lakes, rain arcing through cleveland towards detroit, stretching all the way to just north of indianapolis but falling shy of chicago. the big thunderstorms are possible around nashville later today. if you get to the north, here's where they're located, north dakota, more showers, storms here. zoom on into that area by business mack, riding toward the east, down to the south, more showers, too
