hbo max is in the same league long-term as those assets, they just have not gotten there yet, becausee not global. and you have a call option. where evaluation is, it is a call option, hbo max to the upper league, and discovery plus, a lower tier product that will be helped by cnn. for them, why not? this is not expensive. i know they will manage it well. money is cheap. given where disney has moved to one streaming hopes, why wouldn't you try this? jonathan: i want to talk about the competition -- but for at&t, what does the future look like for you? craig: they are a business that is now back to being a telecom business. they have a wireless business -- by the way, in that, they look a lot like verizon. not quite as skewed wireless as verizon, because they still have a meaningful wireline business, but their service revenue growth, excluding the selling of equipment, is negative 1%. their ebitda growth in the last quarter was -5.7%. rating agencies have said that the downgrade rush holt is 3.7 times. they are still facing an enormously steep, uphill challenge. jonathan: a massive ch

at&t is making a good go of it for hbo max, for example. of hbo combined is less than 4% of at&t, so while it is a good story, fundamentally it's got to be about other businesses for them. jonathan: michael, i am trying to work out why the walt disney company has done nothing all year. the stock has done nothing after a huge move into year-end. michael: we had those two huge moves, and it went to a level that you had to do a lot of price multiples to justify where it was. everyone had a chance to buy it at the investor day. they did. they were not buyers at that level. we were neutral on the stock. we thought it had overshot valuations. now it is going to grind lower, and there will be some point where we are constructive on it, but we had a hard time looking at some of the parts. we are earnings and cash flow analysts. we thought, let's just wait for a better entry point. jonathan: let's talk about what drives that better entry point. what do you think is a catalyst for a move lower from here? michael: i think some of the air coming out of

, and discovery plus discovery plus itself only having launched a few months ago, and hbo max perhapsobviously the creation of content for both, and the use of the warner studio for doing that is certainly something that david zaslav is pointing to, for what are some pretty ambitious goals. take a listen to him from a press call this morning in terms of what he sees. oh, we don't have that right now, but you can see the combined brands here, morgan that's a fairly impressive group of brands. of course they're talking about as much as $14 billion in ebita. they do expect to generate $3 billion a year in synergies they'll reinvest that. that's cost, you can capitalize that, say that's worth 30 billion. the question of course is, wow, at&t deciding less than three years after the transaction of time warner to move it out. >> not only completing but fighting tooth and nail with the justice department under the trump administration to get that deal done. it's pretty notable. you talked about this in the last hour, you put that on top of the fact that it's spinning off the directv assets, g

at&t had a phenomenal quarter and are back on track in terms of subscriber growth hbo max came in atere expecting. they're doing a good job and the valuation is really interesting and you get a 6.5% dividend yield. cortiva is an ag company and i think that's a 2021 story. they didn't actually raise guidance because they're very conservative so i bought more of that today estee lauder was down 8% so i bought more of that too so i had a buying spree this past week for sure. >> mike, pivoting while waiting for more earnings to come out, what should we make of the 10-year back down at 1.56? steph mentioned it earlier it's not based on bearish outlook for the economy, though. >> no, i wouldn't say it is. there's a few things going on. clearly there's demand to capture the yield and treasury market from around the world it's still kind of -- you're in the money if you're a non-u.s. investor being able to pick up yield in that way. there was just a natural flow back into fixed income after an awful first quarter and rebalance there. also, the fact that the fed has persuasively saying rate h

hbo max, envision, discovery plus.selves between live and on demand. netflix for example venturing into live. i would guess there is not a strategic reason to divest cnn at this point or any time soon. maria: how did the at&t time warner deal work out for tv prices? that's one thing the doj is going to look at, whether or not a deal between warner assets and discovery would mean higher tv prices. what's your take there? >> you know, frankly that deal hasn't really had any major meaningful impact on pricing. what has happened though is that the acceleration of streaming and the price competition that we have seen in the past few years has kind of had a downward pressure on pricing but the overall pay-tv bundle remains pretty -- out growing inflation and that's not going to change any time soon, frankly. so what the regulators can do is to attach -- you know, make some conditions that will lapse over a period of time but ultimately the long-term trend is for higher prices way above the inflation rate. maria: yeah. i'm gl
