so i think for us it's a heartbreak.north korea is a really big wound and a heartbreak, and i wanted to tell that story. this is a very personal story, which is an investigative account and also in some sense a memoir because i wanted to relate that what it means to have 70 million people and a third over there, two-thirds in the south, and they have been families for 5,000 years and they're separated forever. the war ended in 1953 and here we are in 2014, they never saw each other again. so i think that when i wanted to relate to my kids, i wanted some sort of, i guess, bond or understanding or some way of connecting, i think. >> were you allowed to wear western clothing? >> no jeans allowed in north korea because kim jong-il doesn't like them. i guess now kim jong-un -- he might because he likes dennis rodman. but generally the jeans, because it's symbol of america. but it was a very sort of conservative environment. but also a locked compound. none of us were allowed out. >> so you never really got to see the country

yes, this was absolute heartbreak.verybody was hoping and thinking and truly believing the usa would be able to get past belgium but unfortunately no. but it wasn't all a sad performance. this isn't truly a sad day for the usa. this is a great day, because we just witnessed an american squad that got everybody in the country so excited, and got them to fall in love with soccer. now the face of the american side last night, undeniably tim howard, 16 saves he made in this game. he was just having to stop actually everything and he was unbelievable. i would personally call him a beast, carol, a highly technical term, but that is exactly what he was. those 16 saves were actually the most amount of saves by any one goalkeeper in a world cup match in history. unbelievable, but at the same time, is he going to be the guy that will be in goal for the usa as we move ahead? we don't know that for sure. he's 35 years old now, and in four years, he'll be 39, so it will be interesting to see if he is still around, but we do have a
