good evening everyone i'm heather holmes. >> and i'm ken wayne. tonight police in santa clara are investigating the first homicide of the year and the first since april of 2010. ktvu's maureen naylor spoke with investigators after a body was found near several busy apartment complexes. >> reporter: we're on monroe street which is in between scott and los padres boulevard. this man was found dead by that grass area by someone who was walking by. >> just shocking. >> reporter: the street was blocked off for more than nine hours today as investigators gathered evidence all morning. >> i saw ten car, i thought this must be horrible or something. then on the other side i met one police officer and he told me that stabbing has happened. >> reporter: firefighters used bleach to clean up blood that stretched from one side of the street to the other. >> there's a will the of trace evidence that the investigators are working on. >> reporter: the victim had traumatic wounds including stab wounds but that's not how investigators are saying he tkaoeuld. this r

. >> i'm heather holmes. less than 30 minutes ago sheriff's officials confirmed that the tragic end to a lastings trip during a storm yesterday. paul chambers was at that news conference where it was said that search crews found the bodies of two missing teens. >> reporter: it was a joint press conference between walnut creek and contra costa. we found information about the two teens. we found they were expected to be home yesterday and they were reported missing just after midnight by their parents. two walnut creek families are mourning the loss of loved ones. this video shows where a 17 -year-old and 16-year-old decided to hop in a raft and ride it down walnut creek. >> they learned from friends their son had gone rafting another friend. probably around two in the afternoon on saturday. >> reporter: officers say the boys asked a friend to pick them up when they didn't show up their parents reported them missing. at daybreak on sunday search and rescue started looking for them. first thing they found was th

. >> i'm heather holmes. the latest storm is now on its way out but not before soak the bay area and frosting mountain peak was more than a few flakes. we have been tracking the cold and wet weather system but we start the coverage tonight live in saratoga. >> reporter: heather we are here on big bason way. above me on highway 35 it's a different story. there is black ice and it's covered in snow. skyline boulevard is blanketed in snow, trees covered in the white stuff, some branches couldn't take the weight. for some the drive up highway nine was dangerous, this driver had to get towed. >> we were going to fast and we slid on some snow and we hit the rocks. >> reporter: others took it as a challenge and wanted to drive in it. >> first time see snow on the road, why not. >> reporter: you came up on purpose? >> absolutely. that's what an old guy does. >> reporter: after several spin outs the police closed it down for a couple hours. caltrans brought in snow plows to clear the roadway. on the sides people were

. >> and hello again, everyone, i'm heather holmes. more records ready to fall. a second night of very cold temperatures as the bay area is shivering and the chp is warning about black ice. ktvu's deborah villalon is live now in sonoma county where drivers are being advised to watch out. deborah? >> reporter: well, we are in roader park at one of the trouble spots. several crashes happened on this overpass before down. any roadway elevated with cold air above and below it is susceptible to black ice. these cars have good reason to crawl. a caution are you tale, a vehicle that spun out and rolled on black ice and is now going nowhere fast. if you've ever hit it, you don't forget. >> just hitting a puddle of water, i mean it brought back memories. you know it, grabs your car and spins you and nothing you can do about it. >> it covers the whole width of the lane. >> reporter: chp shows us it doesn't have to be much of a puddle. this seemed harmless until overnight it hardened into 100 feet of ice right where drivers are picking up speed for the freeway. >> speed def
