that's how much he is beating the democratic incumbent heidi heitkamp. it's fair to say heidi heitkamp is considered probably the most vulnerable democrat in the u.s. senate. we'll see if that holds up. missouri, again, a double-digit state for donald trump in 2016. and the republican he went to campaign many times for is ahead right now. 59.5%. claire mccaskill, the two-term incumbent democrat is down 37.1%. about a third of the vote in, in missouri. boy, that is also a close one. right now, wolf and jake, these are very close contests, and the republicans in a lot of these states where trump did very well, tried to help the republicans, are ahead. >> very interesting what's going on in the senate. also very interesting what's going on in the house of representatives right now. let's take a closer look at what's happening in the house of representatives. democrats are leading in 27 republican districts right now in races that are still too early to call. democrats must pick up 11 republican seats. look at this. seven republicans are leading in democrati

heidi, your party leader, the prime minister, says it is this deal or chaos.le wanting to know how the future will look. i do not accept that. all the indecision that occurs at the moment what we experienced in parliament this is what parliamentary sovereignty feels like a man wrestling to make sure we make the right decision for the country. if the vote is not successful we will need to look at another option. i think we have to accept that. you're one of those who are supporting it not to be successful, so why do you fear it? the prime minister has worked exceptionally hard and nobody can say that is not the case. she has done her absolute best but the brutal truth is it is not ideal that is acceptable to both remain or leaders. had she as many of us on my side of the has tried to convince her repeatedly, had she gone for a softer deal, single market and customs union with full access alignment that would have gone through but she has tried to compromise with many of us knowing there is no bone in their bodies to compromise, no deal would be good enough for

you know, bredesen has done something really interesting, heidi. he has distanced himself from the national democratic party whenever he felt like distancing himself. >> like during -- for the kavanaugh hearings. >> for the kavanaugh hearings, the way they've been handling themselves nationally. he is uniquely independent. you don't usually hear somebody that's a member of a party as openly critical of the party, unless, of course, they're claire mccaskill and then she just calls some people in her own party crazy. >> right. well, you're seeing this in a number of races as well, joe, as i went around to different districts at the local level for house democrats who are running in these more conservative districts. that they are trying to distance themselves from the national party there. they are, for instance, not at all shy about saying that they don't support nancy pelosi, which was the case when i visited virginia 7. so this should not be a race as far as tennessee is concerned. if bredesen pulls it out there, then i think we are truly looking

i got to start with heidi. your reporting we're highlighting it up front.ong list of the investigations that house democrats want to start. walk us through it. >> democrats say they over the past two years there's been scant oversight of the trump administration. it has nothing to do with russia and has to do with agencies. during the benghazi investigation when trey ggowdy s in charge, they issued 14 subpoen subpoenas. they have issued only one. during that time frame they assembled an archive of over 100 different letters as well as 64 subpoena requests all which had been denied and now they're compiling that and they're going to use it as a road map to map out their over sights which fal falls into a number of buckets. misused of taxpayer funds. we have seen examples of that with tom price and also the trump's family. we obtained a letter that went for instance to the ivanka trump brand asking about her contacts with high ranking officials in china and japan and just i guess happens in the past few weeks, ivanka trump, did get 16 new trademarks in china.

heidi heitkamp, the numbers were against her. running for reelection in a state where donald trump won by 36 points. she won that seat six years ago by less than 3,000 votes. based in significant part by very, very strong -- very, very strong support from native american voters. they passed a law that makes it essentially very difficult for native americans to cast votes. >> starting with what's your street address? >> north dakota ans who are native americans who live on rural reservations don't have street addresses. they decided it would be a rule you had to have a street address on your i.d. to vote. it was a suppression to keep them from voting. it's a civil rights story that would linger on a long time after these results have resonated. but whether or not those votes would have been enough to keep heidi heitkamp in the senate, she has lost her seat tonight. >> that is a net gain for the republicans, a net loss for the democrats. that is not a seat that's a wash. >> i want to go back to lawrence. we're talking about some ra

so heidi heitkamp is somebody who fights every day for north dakota. wolf, in all the polling we've seen, all the surveys, the issue that is top of mind for voters, and i mean across the board, is the issue of health security and making sure people are protected if they have pre-existing health conditions. republicans have spent the last two years trying to eliminate protections for people with p pre-existing conditions. >> what about the economy? the jobs numbers, 3.7% unemployment, 250,000 jobs, created in october alone. the markets are pretty stable, pretty good right now. isn't that a strong point for the republicans? >> well, wolf, i think if you look at any graph, you'll see the economy was on the rise during the obama administration. we were on a strong upward trajectory. in fact, if you look at real wages, real wages grew faster during the second obama term than they have so far in this trump term. that's because even though wages are going up, so are the costs of things like health care. so if you're an american out there trying to make your w
