jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> time now 5:32.have new details this morning about the tragic events that happened sunday night in san francisco when a 16-year- old high school sophomore was killed. the body was found early sunday morning at a home. the two teenagers charged in the case were in court yesterday. the prosecutors say the 15-year- old boy charged with murder shot him in the back of the head then called 18-year-old to help him get rid of the body. prosecutors say the two talked about cutting up the body but decided instead to burn it. neighbors called 911 after smelling gas. a friend of the family says the family is devastated by the death of their only son. >> they don't know those boys. they don't even recognize the defendant who appeared earlier. >> the 15-year-old had told the police earlier that the shooting happened accidentally while he and zeng were playing with a gun. he did not enter a plea. the 18-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of accessory to murder after the fact. >>> san francisco police are also

[ audio problems ] >> reporter: the american red cross is sheltering 63 people this morning. 26 people with special needs are being housed at a different facility. that's through the tenderloin neighborhood development group which owns the franciscan towers where the fire broke out around 9:00 last night. 22 additional residents were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. we're told they had smoke inhalation. some of those 22 residents are staying at t

ktvu jade hernandez joining us live she is in berkeley. how do people find out about this in the first place? >> reporter: homeowners we spoke to heard rushing water. they had no idea it was this. >> i was awakened by a very, very loud sound of water rushing. i looked out the window and saw water coming down both sides of my house. >> reporter: you are looking at one berkeley homeowner woke up to this morning. his backyard is along shattuc avenue and los angeles. when he first arrived he and his wife did not rush to pick up sandbags because they waited for the water to turn off. it took an hour between 2:30 and 3:30 before they could identify and shut off the water. an east bay mud water said a six inch steel pipe burst over night. for now, residents along this block about 30 households will be without water for three to eight hours. the homeowner says he will have to wait for daylight to see what damage it caused. >> the neighbor across the street has a lot of water coming up under his garage and some of the neighbors have a little water

jodi hernandez is live in marin with all this new information for us tonight. >> reporter: jessica, the 77-year-old suspect is sitting here in the marin county jail, accused of being a serial killer. four killings, cases that had gone cold years ago, are suddenly back in the spotlight, and a suspect is behind bars. you're looking at a man investigators say is responsible for a killing spree that spanned at least three decades. investigators arrested 77-year-old joseph naso, a self-employed photographer with a rap sheet for robbery. he was picked up for a probation violation last year where police say they uncovered evidence that ties him to four killings, including two in the bay area. >> during that arrest, investigators found items by mr. naso that implicated him in multiple murders of young women. >> reporter: those items included photographs and writings by naso. it took investigators a year to piece it all together, and link him to two killings in yuba county in the '90s, the killing of carmen colon and the killing of roxene roggasch whose body was found in fairfax in 1977. cases t

as jodi hernandez shows us, naso is accused of four homicides in northern california alone. >> reporter: 77-year-old joseph naso tried hiding his face in his jail jumpsuit as a judge formally charged him with four counts of murder. investigators say they found photographs and writings by naso in his reno, nevada, home that implicate him in the killings of two bay area women in the late '70s. and two yuba county women in the early '90s. but investigators say the case is far from closed. >> the case is ongoing in an investigative posture, and we have the counts that we believe the evidence is sufficient to prosecute at this point. >> reporter: the case has caught the attention of investigators on the east coast. all of naso's alleged victims have first and last names that begin with the same letters. just like the infamous alphabet murders of the '70s in upstate new york. the lead investigator in those cases talked to us by phone. >> i thought it was quite intriguing the fact that the initials were involved the way they were. because i know of no other suspect that's been picked up that w

jade hernandez is at at & t park. jade will have much more on the security efforts coming up for you at 6:30. >>> in just a couple of hours from right now, jury deliberations resume in the barry bonds' trial. allie rasmus tells us about the testimony that will get a second hearing this morning. what is going on? >> reporter: dave, today the jury will take a closer look at the testimony in a key witness in this trial. that witness is kathy hoskins. she was bonds' personal shopper for a number of years. she testified on the stands that she saw the personal trainer inject bonds in the belly button. now the jury will have to decide whether barry bonds' committed perjury when he told the grand jury back in 2003 he never knowingly took steroids or human growth hormone. bonds' faces three charge of making false statements one charge of obstruction of justice. they could find him guilty of some of the charges, all of them, or none at all. because of the intense media attention on the trial, they are not expecting a hung jury.
