all of a sudden by design, a tutor at a at a local high school in l.a. and i get, you know, inspires them to go into teaching. he goes on to start a big picture learning model school in oakland and big picture learning for you know for those of you not familiar is you know, nonprofit organization that has a network of we're called progressive or student center schools. the idea is that the school should fit the needs of the child. and we shouldn't we should you know, there should be a divorce between the community and the classroom. so students spend several days a week in internships and what they call real world learning experiences, among other activities. there, there's a structure of advisories where students in those advisories throughout the day and and the idea is that each child should be known by at least one adult in the school, which helps produce more social cohesion, reduces bullying, and also just make sure that students are heard and felt responsive to. so david comes back to philadelphia, starts el centro. the scientists, gets a contract

high school girls have 3 million more opportunities to play than they did before title ix, and 43% of ncaa athletes now are women. significant barriers to gender equity in sports persist. some schools still street treat girls and women's teams as second class. they aren't afforded the same level of publicity to showcase their many talents and women in professional sports consistently complain about gender bias in pay. we have all learned of case after case of sexual abuse against student athletes which schools overlooked the deplorable conduct by coaches and athletic trainers, and school doctors. these barriers to gender equity in sports are well documented, and they are pervasive. yet none of that is the subject of the hearing today. so today is really about attacking and dehumanizing transgendered people and especially transwomen and girls. even though trans youth are not responsible for any of the problems in sport that i have named and still we have seen at least 24 states racing to move to ban trans students from women and girls sports teams, falsely claiming they are protecting

oak grove high school.but one high school will both be closed today due to power outages. superintendent of the school system east side union high school district says the fallen power lines and trees are to blame. >> in a south bay, 7 people and several dogs were rescued from islands in the guadalupe river. crews responded sunday afternoon because the car was seen in the fast-moving waters and they found that car. nobody was in it. and then they later found 3 people on an island near by and they used an inflatable boat rescue those people. and then further down the river, 4 more people were rescued and 3 dogs, a litter of 9 puppies. they also save them. officials have announced living near the guadalupe river had been forced to evacuate. so they are just warning you again, as we're going to see more and more rain this season to be very careful when the rivers get high. emergency crews in the north bay were out in full force. they were helping to clean up after the storm as well. 5 intersections in sebastop
