they were told to take a hill and to hold it. the chinese had it. they were able to take the hill.was a daylight mission, which is particularly dangerous. it was cold. they were out in the open when they were trying to take the hill. they took casualties. they were under overwhelming fire from the chinese. those 60 men faced hundreds of chinese fighters. it lasted more than a day. during that time, he ran out in front of the chinese fire on three separate occasions to draw the fire to himself so they could fix the artillery fire on the chinese. he was wounded several times throughout the battle. by the next day, after they were nearly out of ammo and they had taken casualties and had wounded, the said, retreat. leave me behind. i'm wounded. don't waste your time with me. save yourselves. his men said, no. they literally dragged him to safety. his men thought so much of him, they cared so much for him that they would not leave him behind. a tremendous story of valor and a selfless man being honored today at the white house. >> they are stopping now for a moment in prayer, it seems.

monday morning for the north bay hills and mountains, the east bay hills, also the east bay interior valleys. and then for solano county. it takes effect saturday morning, and that goes until six p.m. on monday relative humidity levels will be driven down as this drier, warmer air mass rolls in now we look outside today it's absolutely beautiful blue skies and quite nice and more of an onshore flow. as we see here is we take a look at the wind half moon bay right now gusting about 28 mph. this is all kind of the usual in the afternoon and you could see in about about 25 mph, but that's going to change is a work our way into tonight. so up but the peaks right now you see mount diablo started to get a little%o all of that flow that's kind of coming more from the northwest will start coming more from the north, and that will help to drive that offshore wind, so i want to show you in future cast here. we're looking at three things temperatures. we're looking at relative humidity levels. and of course, we're looking at wind speeds. let me roll this through tonight and show you we get into

hills starting tonight. i want to bring in ktvu meteorologist kyla grogan with more of the details on this, kyla, this is not good news this early on in the season to get a red flag morning like this. you know, you're absolutely right. this is an early season event. it is a moderate wind event, but unfortunately it's enough to kick off a red flag warning because we're going to have warm temperatures. we're going to have low relative humidity levels. we're going to have offshore wind s. oh let's talk about this. it is elevated fire danger again. i mentioned this is a moderate offshore win. event, so it's not extreme, but it's certainly enough that you need to be cautious. we've got very dry fuels as we have had, of course, a very dry winter. and so the north bay hills, the east bay hills and also the interior valleys in the east there under this red flag warning, starting 11 o'clock tonight goes through six a.m. on monday, expecting winds between about 50 and 30, mph and gusts upwards of 40 mph possible, but
