when congressman john lewis says he doesn't remember bernie sanders, but he did see hillary clinton, d is that to hear? how damning is that? >> everybody here at this table has enormous respect for john lewis, the personal sacrifice he made. but i don't think bernie sanders has ever said he was a leader in the civil rights movement or he was at the level of john lewis. he was like many thousands of young people who were inspired by the civil rights movement. i've seen a picture of him leading a sit-in at the university of chicago trying to force the university to desegregate housing there. a friend of mine was in that picture as well. i think both john lewis as an icon, i respect that, but there's no question that bernie sanders was engaged in the civil rights movement. he was inspired by that. i think that's one of the things that inspired him to get into public office and be active in public life. >> mayor nutter, bernie sanders did get some crucial endorsements. we mentioned harry bellefonte and a former naacp president. is hillary clinton taking the black vote for granted? >> no.

hillary clinton won 74% to sanders 23%. that was 49% of the electorate. and hillary clinton beat bernie sanders by 13 points 55% to 42%. and, look at democrats. 80% today was democratic. 57% clinton, 41% sanders. obviously he's doing well with independents did well with independents today here too but they make up 19%. she wins democrats overwhelmingly women wins the people that want to continue barack obama's policies and they made up huge chunks. so this is how she won in nevada. >> i think your point about the independent es is critical. hillary clinton is doing very well among the peoplewho are supposed to like her, her fellow democrats. and you know when you saw the big win for bernie sanders in new hampshire, so much of his support does come from independents. >> so as this contest moves to more closed primaries where just democrats are participating, we move to super tuesday and beyond that is advantage clinton. >> no question. >> she has a slightly impressive win there, it's not necessarily even thaul close. look at the numbers now. 52.3%, 47.7%. i

hillary clinton, bernie sanders, 49.8% for hillary clinton, 49.6% for bernie sanders, that's with 90%f the vote in. it doesn't get a lot closer than that. let's go over to john king for some analysis. 10% of the vote still out, it's as close as possible right now, between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. >> omg? >> that's what they say. this is, numbers don't lie. where is the vote outstanding, that's the big question. if you're in clinton headquarters, you have 18% of the vote out in polk county. she's running up a big margin, that's been pretty consistent all night. if that margin sticks, that's more good news for secretary clinton. you move over to dallas county. i just sent it the other way. a big lead there in this part. 91%, again, if she can keep this big lead as the rest of that comes in, it's comfort to her. let's come east. let's just stop up here, in story county, 86% of the vote in. when you look at the rest of the vote out, if he can keep this count, that narrows the gap a little bit. story county, not as big as polk county to the south, she gets more of a bounce, you

yes, bernie sanders crushed hillary clinton with young voters and bernie sanders' problem is he's notn this primary and the last democratic primary in 2008, based on what i saw, the young voters were the smallest part of the electorate and dropped by four or five points in terms of their percentage of the electorate. he's not energizing. young people are not being energized to turn out. both sides have work to do. i will say this, new hampshire like anywhere else, it's complicated and unpredictable. i'm not going to come on tv and predict the most unpredictable electorate in the country. bernie sanders' strengths in a lot of these polls is based on independent voters. remember this, independent voters can go in and pull either parties' ballot. if they think the republican side is more interesting to them on that day, and they pull the republican ballot, that's a vote bernie sanders was hoping to get. so this is a big jigsaw puzzle they are both trying to figure out. >> mo, quickly, what are the risks for bernie sanders tonight? how careful does he need to be? yesterday he said hillary
