what did you observe from lawmakers on capitol hill? >> i spent my last couple of days talking to democrats. they are saying we are not going to vote for any more funding measures until daca is dealt with. they feel confident that they are going to be able to come out on top and that voters will blame president trump and the white house. first of all, republicans do control everything and, secondly, the fact that president trump really has been all over the map on the daca issue. just a couple of weeks ago, having that big meeng in the cabinet room saying i want to sign a bill. i' sigteven whacongress brings to me and suddenly rejecting the bipartisan compromise that six senators came up with. they feel confident about that. there are democrats who are uncomfortable with this and they worry that the way republicans are framing this could do damage to them, particularly the argument that democrats are choosing illegal immigrants over the military. you started to hear that from the house floor leaders. if it goes down to a daca negotiatio

i want to bring in sunlen serfaty, she is there on the hill.n, what are you hearing about these negotiations as we're just minutes away from this key vote? >> reporter: yeah, brianna, a lot of reading of tea leaves here on capitol hill. a lot of flurry of activity, members going in and out of meetings and trying to get the sense, of course, of is this deal one that democrats will accept? there was just a round of applause outside the senate democrats' meeting. unsure what that applause was for, but certainly the sense up here is that this is moving in the right direction, moving in the direction to potentially have that vote go through today, but the big point is we just do not know until those votes are counted and voted on. you know, got the sense from senate democrats heading into meetings today that they wanted to hear more firm commitment, more firm assurances from the senate majority leader mitch mcconnell that he intends to hold a vote and will commit to holding a vote. it is all about a matter of words. will senate democrats take that o

yeah, i felt it in that oakland hills area. for all of us working this shift we are up around that time. as i'm getting ready for the stories we were originally going to do i felt a little bit of a shake. no damage in that oaklabservina area but you did feel a 4.5 earthquake, that epicenter in that claremont area. we are on the backside of the claremont hotel. you have the pete's coffee, another restaurant and even this store here, just to show you guys, obviously there is no damage in this area, you've got some glass right there that didn't fall over as a result of this earthquake. other items in here that appear to be in place, looking at it right now, as we drove up. so the good news is at least here in what's considered the epicenter of that earthquake in the claremont area there appears to be no damage to the store months in this area. aud aud. you see that there is a little bit of things maybe falling off the shelves as a result of the earthquake but at least here in this claremont area we are not seeing much of that. in
