hillsboro police station and shot an officer. the officer expected to be okay, but a manhunt is underway. kron four's check moment is live in burlingame and has the latest. jack. >> yeah, shelter-in-place order has been in effect here for several hours in both burlingame and in hillsborough, impacting several road closures, including a major closure on el camino, real in both directions for several blocks. now for several hours, many police agencies have gathered here to track down the suspected gunman. many of these agencies searching by air through helicopters and drones and other searching on foot, even going down to check individual trash cans and checking in people's yards to track down any evidence of the suspected gunman. as you can see here behind me, there is caution tape. there are crews on scene narrowing down their search here specifically on willow avenue. now, we did get some last minute details here from hillsboro police that said that around 3.49, this evening, an officer was ambushed by a suspect that is not know

it happened in the parking lot of the hillsboro police station yesterday. that officer was injured but will reportedly be ok, we're following the investigation. police have confirmed a person of interest has been interviewed in south san francisco and police are calling last night's shooting an ambush. they're asking for dash cam video from anyone traveling on el camino. real between oak grove avenue in bellevue, bellevue, between about 3, 34, 15 yesterday. police called for shelter in place for a while yesterday. they say they are confident the gunman left the scene. the officer who was targeted returned fire, although it is not clear whether the suspect was hit and we'll continue to bring you any updates. san francisco's board of education will vote this coming week on whether to authorize preliminary layoff notices for 559 employees. that move is part of the effort to deal 113 million dollar deficit for the coming school year. the vote scheduled for tuesday. it will affect 395 teachers. 164 staff workers, including office workers, custodians bus drivers.

and also in the north bay, plentiful precipitation now falling from hillsboro all the way to the golden gate bridge, san francisco along the peninsula, half moon bay to santa cruz. it's raining, but this is all pre-frontal moisture. it's light. we got the heaviest rain coming tonight. it's live. it's our weather camera looking out toward san francisco, where the winds are light at this hour. but these winds are going to ramp up in the overnight hours. and that's why we have a high wind warning that goes into effect at 3:00 in the morning from the portions of the north bay coastline streaming across san francisco, encompassing the san mateo coastline all the way into the santa cruz mountains, there will be some downed trees because the ground is saturated and the winds will blow up to 45 and 50mph, a wind advisory in effect for our inland areas and bayside as well. in addition to that, a flood watch is in effect for up to seven inches of rain and the what is locations looks like the targeted area will be the santa cruz mountains. but as you take a look at all this and you see the purple

looks like during the 2:00 hour today, some wind reports closer to hillsboro this afternoon.morning at about 52 miles an hour. and then even in the south bay, reports of flooding for this, some roadways in parts of the south bay as well. it's a recent report at 340. so here's the coverage right now in terms of the heavy rainfall, once again, some thunderstorms detected right around the radar site here in the santa cruz mountains. so it looks like we have some at least some thunderstorm activity developing this afternoon. and there you can see all the coverage in the south bay, san jose to sunnyvale, then moving up the peninsula as well. the rainfall is definitely been trending way up in intensity just over the past few hours. and then there's the coverage in the east bay, fremont to livermore to concord, and then up in the north bay, some scattered rain. it looks like the focus right now is in portions of napa county, out towards solano county, as well as far as the winds. we do have wind advisories in place and winds are up there. in a few spots. you can see concord gusting
