to tell us more, we have holland mcdowell all the way from washington, d.c. where she's going to school. welcome to the so how did you decide to actually move forward with a studio like this? >> i started it because my high school required us to have service hours. my sophomore year i decided i needed to make an impact on the community. so i started it not really knowing what was going to happen. then i incorporated into my thesis and found i was making a difference in these children's lives. >> what made you open up to those with down syndrome? do you have a family member or friend? >> i don't. i just saw a need in the community. >> how long did you get people saying i'm in? >> it took awhile. we had our first spring workshop in 2014. it was in a church auditorium. we had three kids and three teachers. once those kids showed they loved it, we built up the program. >> how have these classes helped raise awareness? >> through the program we've shown people that down syndrome is not that bad and they are amazingly talented and we're so lucky to have them here.
