holly bristow in melbourne, florida, right now where the weather is getting worse. >> reporter: goodning. we're here along the inter coastal in mel bourne, florida, about 6:00 o'clock tonight we were over at the beach checking out the waves there which were getting huge and it was definitely getting pretty windy. i was talking to a police officer and he warned my photographer and i if gets any windier it's time to head over the bridge before the conditions get too dicey so that's exactly what we did. we took a slow drive over the bridge. getting blown around little bit and we decided to come mainland where we're now here along the inter coastal. since we've been here it's gotten progressively windier and rainier. you can probably see it look like the rain is almost coming in sideways. if you take look behind me, this river is typically full of boats sailing. people water skiing, wake boarding in fact i grew up in this area and used to spend my time after school and on weekends doing just that. typically, this is a pretty calm river. it's great for water sports but if you could see it

holly bri hol holly bristow is live, holly, what is it like?: we actually moved in land a little bit and we are in bell morning along the indian river which is the inner coastal. we dugout behind the building and you can see. the rain is coming sideways and it seems that the rain drops are getting bigger and painful. you look off in the distance and i don't know how much you seek because of a fray coming off the water. this is the inner coastal. it is common during the day that people enjoy all kinds of water sports out there. it is raging with huge waves that are curling and barrelling over that you would not believe. they're rolling in after another and another. about an hour and a half ago or up to an hour and a half ago. there is about a 30 feet sailboat that was 150 yards off the shore, looks like the rain is a little too strong now but often in the distance, it is now a lot and it is climbing up the rocks o f the seawall there. obviously, that got lose. >> we have been seeing these blue flashes of lights all over the place and one by one,

holly bristow is not too far from daytona in melbourne florida tonight with a look at the current conditions there. >> well, good evening, we are along the indian river in brevard county. we are in melbourne where the rain is now coming down sideways, really big gusts of toes. as the night goes on, the rain is coming down harder, but not quite unbearable at this point. the only thing that can blow at us right now is wind and water. if you take a look out here, you'll see there are white caps blowing up. this is typically a pretty calm river that's great for water sports, everything from sailing to just general boating. i actually grew up wakeboarding and water-skiing on this river, and it's calm than it is tonight, with literally white caps from one side to the other. if you jumped in on a boogy board, not safe to do, but you would get a heck of a ride in the water. at about 6:00 east coast time, we were over at the beach and it was so windy that police told us it would probably be a good time for us to come over to the mainland simply because the high-profile car like an suv, so we took it
