you can watch n"nbc nightly new" with lester holt at 5:30 for the latest. >> stay overseas and take you to france now. blue, white and red ill luminatg the eiffel tower in paris tonight. all of it in honor of the victim of the terror attack that happened in the seaside resort city of nice. as you saw yesterday, we showed you a man kroef a truck through a packed promenade yesterday. revels there to celebrate bastille day with their families. a man killed 84 people including ten children and a father and son from texas. more than 200 people also hurt. among those injured are three cal students. but a fourth one, a cal student, is unaccounted for. the driver was identified who was born in tunisa, but lives in nice. police killed him during the shootout. nobody has arrested him for charges. police also arrested his ex-wife, but it's unclear what charges he faces if any. vest garretts want to know if he acted alone. a search is still underway for the missing cal student. they're hoping for good news and this has been a tough couple of months for cal. with some of their students, michelle. >>

>> announcer: from nbc news world headquarters in new york, this is "nbc nightly news" with lester holt. >>> good evening. practically on the heels of the tragedy in texas, the deadliest day for law enforcement in almost 15 years, two more lawmen were shot to death this afternoon, this time inside a michigan courthouse. the victims were bailiffs at the st. joseph. in addition a sheriff's deputy was wounded before the gunman was killed. it happened as the country closely reflects on the ambush in dallas and the dangers faced by all those who carry a badge. nbc's ron mott has the breaking details. >> reporter: as officers secure the scene outside the barrien county courthouse, the search was under way inside for the suspected gunman. it was shortly before 2:30 this afternoon on the third floor of the building, a shooting outside of a courtroom, three dead including the shooter. nbc news has learned from law enforcement sources that the suspect was due in court for a hearing, grabbed a bailiff's gun and started shooting. a deputy sheriff and seven several others were also reportedly injure

lester holt will broadcast live from nice tonight at 6:30 and have the latest on what's happening in turkey as well. >>> now to new details about a woman found in a trunk in mayfair. nbc 10's brandon hudson just talked to the woman who called police to check out that car. brandon, what did she have to say to you? >> reporter: keith, she told me she was searching for her sister. she's been missing. she found a car that she believed to be her 23-year-old sister, smelled a strange odor and then called police. her mother and daughter showed up at the intersection of shellmeyer avenue and leon street. the mom was quite emotional while speaking to police. the family told me that the 23-year-old was missing for nine days. nbc 10 learned around 1:30 this afternoon, the call came in to police, that a woman's body was found in the trunk of the chevrolet. here's what one of her sisters had to say. >> when i got here, i said that looks like my sister's car. the license plate, i got out and checked the license plate. and as i did, i noticed something coming from the trunk of the car, a bad smell.
