howard bernstein has more. >> reporter: we're up in the air as to what is going to happen here. i think the areas toward the beach east of the bay, much more likely to have the rain and the wind saturday and sunday. >> monday may still be salvageable. here's the latest on hermine. there is the center of circulation that is stronger. 65 miles per hour winds now but the strong outer bands offshore, this is appalachia cola and this is tampa. it's this ar and this is tampa. they're going to get the storm surge, a secondary problem with the heavy rain and that tornadic threat mike was talking about. from the hurricane center, the winds 65; and destine, 75 now and should be a category 1 storm with more than 75 miles per hour making landfall some time late this evening. probably by mid-night and hurricane warnings in affect for that upper part of the florida coast. and then they will stay inland, transitioning from a tropical to post tropical storm and still, a strong area of low pressure, the winds of 45 miles per hour saturday morning and west of cape hatteras. there is some rain and wind saturday into sunday, special

beaches after dodging a rate hit from hermine. there's no relief in sight when it comes to summer-like temperatures. thank you for joining us. >> let's go over to howard bernstein for a look at what hermine left behind and the heat ahead. >> big changes over the next few days, and we are tracking hermine, down to 65 miles an hour, a lot of rain offshore, and some of it is into new england, and a little bit of rain there as well. we will have tropical storm warnings, and you will notice a slow meandering to the west, and then this should be disapainting by wednesday, and -- dissipating by wednesday and the worst of the winds, it may touch eastern long island before they pull away. the tropical storm force winds tuesday into tuesday night here along the southern new england coast, and for central and eastern long island, and we are looking comfortable tonight, temperatures dipping into the upper 50s for the coolest spots. open the windows and enjoy it. the changes are coming, and in fact, as early as tomorrow, we are above 90 degrees with the high in the low 90s, not too humid tomorrow, but the heat and humidity are roaring in with a chance of storms by

howard frankland bridge and look at gandy bridge this morning. >>> things looking pretty good outside. look at the mainsail beach inn on anna maria island. beautiful blue skies. the best chance of rain in the first part of the day will be close to the coastline but the only thing i see is that little tiny spot near holiday trying to work its way inland. not doing a very good job of it. not a very big batch of rain either. the rest of the area, all the major roads and bridges are dry. we had showers that moved across i-75 in sarasota county earlier but dry we'll see more showers bubbling up around noon and then they will become more widespread with 30% coverage by 4:00. close to 90 as the high again today. tomorrow and thursday, then a cool front pushes through the area and we'll start to see the temperatures come down some. not dramatic. you'll notice the difference in the morning with the lower humidity and slightly lower temperatures. this weekend looks fabulous, relatively cool mornings for temperatures near 70 degrees on saturday and then afternoon high of 86, we'll only see a few afternoon showers and ?
