here's the latest on hurricane maria. category two storm winds up to 1 so miles per -- 110 miles per hs a huge wynfield. wind field. it's an upper level low that's steering the storm closer to the coast. always the approaches the coast, it runs into the heat pump high and it will make a right hand turn. 530 miles per hour southeast of cape hatteras, 110 miles per hour winds moving north at 9, turns toward the coast and boom, makes the right hand turn as it hits the heat pump high that should save the eastern seaboard from direct hit from hurricane maria. so by friday morning, this thing is well offshore and weakens into a category one storm. we'll see impacts from the storm. the delaware beaches, jersey shore, but it should not be close to what show aproduced. produced. by the middle of the week, waves 5 to 8 feet. beach erosion is possible, but not as bad as jose. you could probably take the impacts of jose and cut that in half, that's what we'll see with maria. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, sunny hot and

pedro, what's the latest on the path of hurricane maria, and of course what news do you have for people in mexico on those terrifying aftershocks that they're now experiencing? >> liet's start with this with the hurricane with maria sitting there 160-mile-per-hour winds. we've seen the winds shifting back and forth, still a category 5 system, just skirting the southern tier of st. croix into the virgin islands. and of course on direct approach about four hours away from landfall into eastern puerto rico. but radar imagery shows you one piece of good news. the eyewall of this storm where 215-mile-per-hour gusts are observed, skirted just south of the island. this duns look like it made direct landfall on to parts of st. croix. they did have wind gusts of 137 miles per hour. of course 213, 137 significant difference. but again, a better end at least to portions of st. croix here with this not being directly impacted. but it's going to go right into eastern portions of puerto rico. at this point it looks almost impossible for this, to miss puerto rico on approach. areas indicated in white

. >> we're bringing you live team coverage of hurricane maria's wrath. let's begin with tammie souza. people are feeling it. >> let's look at this hurricane which already the intensity is stronger than that of irma. we saw how big irma was. this storm is smaller in size but it's based on the central pressure. i have to tell you it was st. croix and the islands around and puerto rico itself that bore the brunt of this huge storm. look at the eye. it falls apart as it moves across the mountains. on the other side of puerto rico there it is. the eye is trying to reform. that means this storm is trying to restrengthen. let's look at maria. it will be expected to restrengthen to 130 to 156-mile-an-hour winds. it's headed toward the turks and caicos. it will graze the northern side of the dominican republic and then north along the eastern coast of the u.s. and it is the tenth most intense atlantic hurricane on record with a minimum pressure of 906 millibars, 175-mile-an-hour winds. that was last night. this was an incredible storm. when we come back in a littl
