at least five women have been attacked near the northwest branch trail in hyattsville near the west hyattsville metro station. news4's tracee wilkins joins us live from the trail. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're looking at five attacks this year. three attacks since march. and now there is a new composite sketch that does not match the other composite sketches for a suspect. police on march 21, the 27th, and 20th, three women were raped on the northwest branch trial in hyattsville in the evening hours. these two composite sketches were released by the maryland national capital park police in connection with the first two attacks. both victims described their attacker as a hispanic male, in his late 20s, early 30s. 5'5" to 5'7", 160 pounds. the victims said the man spoke spanish and used a seven-inch kitchen knife to force them into the brush and attack them. the latest victim is described as a hispanic male, hazel eyes, 5'5"5'7", 170 to 190 pounds, medium to stocky build with a mustache. this victim says the man brandished a gun before forcing her into the brush and sexually assa

it's happening near the west hyattsville metro station. some of the attacks are on a nearby hiking and biking trail. john henrehan joins with us the story with the latest. >> reporter: police in hyattsville area now they have five victims but they are not sure if they are seeking one assailant or two different men. this waterway in the hyattsville area of prince george county is known as the northwest branch of the anacostia river. alongside the waterway, lies a paved hiking biking and walking path known as the west bran trail. it's patrolled. a portion of the trail is adjacent to the west hyattsville metro station. from mid-march to april 20th, three different women have been accosted on the trail by an armed man, dragged off the trail and raped. one was in her 30s, one in her 20s and the most recent was 14 years old. this past week several area police departments met, compared notes and learned since january two other women were sexually accosted on nearby streets within walking distance of the metro stop. the trail has been pasted over
