derrick ward live in hyattsville, the scene of a fiery crash.ck, you are learning more information right now. what have you got it share with us? >> the information that we have nails down the fatalities and the injuries. we are told, four people are dead and there may be two children among them. we spoke to a witness and someone who actually saw this. take a listen. >> what i had saw was the cadillac up here and the guy in the white and i guess when the collision happened the car caught on fire and as he was driving down here it blew up so he must have spun out of control and he ran into the spanish people there. we were trying to run and trying to tell him to stop. >> and maybe about a quarter of a mile away with one vehicle being struck and striking the vehicle up the road before bursting into flames and we'll have more information on this as it becomes available and chillum road is blocked from the 2400 block all of the way to the other side on sergeant road. we are live in prince george's county, derrick ward. >> thank you so very much. >>

roz plater is live in hyattsville with the latest. roz: within the past two minutes come investigators wrapped up their work and reopened chikl llum road. we have learned the van involved in the crash was a church van in wearying -- we are hearing from good samaritans. the aftermath of a fiery crash right before 5 p.m. boom, loud noise. came outside and we saw flames about 20 feet high. and then i guess leaking gas interrupted. say that itgators involved three vehicles -- a car, a pickup truck, and 15 passenger van. preliminary reports are the pickup truck may have struck the car and kept going. >> the vehicle left the scene and continued up road with its tire on fire before crashed into the van. roz: neighbors began trying to help. >> people were running down the street. the guy who lives right in front of the crash came out with a water hose. roz: then they began pulling victims out of the van. >> i went up to one of the girls and just held her hand. she was crying. we tried to keep her awake and still. roz: a young mother said some

tonight we're hearing from those inside the church van that went up in flanls in hyattsville earlier this month. erika gonzalez is here with reaction from a father and son who are still waiting for the rest of their family to come home from the hospital. erika? >> from the moment the truck hit their van to the first responders carrying them away, these victims remember a lot. freddy rodriguez has been home from the hospital just a couple of days and he's got a broken leg and badly burned arm. rodriguez tells me he remembers the truck that would eventually hit them zig-zagging through traffic with smoke and two wheels on fire. he would swerve the van which carried more than a dozen people headed to church, but couldn't get out of the way fast enough. screams and sirens, the impact, he says, pushed the steering wheel and dashboard into his chest and the van caught fire. freddie, jr., says first responders freed him from the wreck. >> reporter: were you scared? >> very worried. >> reporter: you were very worried. what were you worried about? >> that my mom that she went up with god. >>

but for now live in hyattsville, i'm kevin lewis, abc7 news. alison: thank you. 24 hours ago we brought you this story as breaking news. a man crashes his car after being shot. we learned bernard parker died. maryland bureau chief brad bell continues towork the developing story today. brad, he was shot in the car. do we know what led up to that? brad: no, we don't. as a matter of fact, police didn't know at first that he had been shot. this is the tree the car came to rest on. he was taken from the accident scene by accident to the hospital. that's where they found out that he had been shot. we can show you a picture of mr. parker. he is 5 -- he was 59 years old, we should say. he lived in this neighborhood for a long time. people here knew him. and liked him very well. what police believe happened is he was driving in his car. a family members tell me he was on his way to get a prescription for his elderly mother-in-law when for some reason, somehow, someone came up to the car. that person had a gun. opened fire. and hit mr. parker in the head
