i don't think we need to look at this. you know what the subject of private ryan is. and we move to the end of at least my remarks and the story and what remains in our minds of private ryan and our imagination i'd say some authors have said that we all have memories and they are formed in different ways formed by films like this whether they are authentic or historically accurate documentaries or not. they have an impact. some of them aren't to be trusted. we trust that historians will help people understand the fact from fiction but for all of us there's always some mythology. and the story of the war is what has been composed as a mosaic of what has been composed over the years out of recollections and other people there here at our museum like in band of brothers and private ryan those stories many of them, 10,000 of them recorded and curated history. so it helps to form the public memory and we'll give a great deal of credit, not to just the way in which private ryan and steven speilburg and tom hanks all rallied around this d day museum and around steven ambrose

i support kevin's notion that you can't think about d day without referencing saving private ryan. we hear this again and again. it was like a scene from saving private ryan. so-and-so was the inspiration for steven spielberg's -- i would have to say that is the gold standard for any director. why are you making a movie if that is not what the result that you are interested in getting. like kevin, sure, i guess the movie has its issues here and there. did it deploy tanks on the river which is exactly what you said? you went by the time frame, when which i agree. when they came they were not going to be deployed where they would be bobbled up by a u.s. attack. i would have to look up the german order of battle in this sector of norma di. that is just the sort of thing that i have never particular i will cared about in a film. you want an accurate order of battle, go read a book. this is my advice. i might say read one of my books. this is what i spend my lifetime trying to do, make sure that the order of battle is correct. i am not concerned about that when i go to put my hard earned
