iowa city's city manager is leaving to take a job in lawrence, kansas. tom markus has served iowa city for the last five years. he will be the city manager in lawrence... a town of about 93-thousand people that's the home of the university of kansas. markus begins his new job in march. dollars in construction work is nearing completion in iowa city. much of the work is happening on the university of iowa's arts and music campuses. in may the new arts building will open. then in june work at the new hancher auditorium will wrap up. and in august crews will finish work on the voxman music building. the buildings replace several buildings destroyed in the 2008 flood. "those who are going into the buildings have persevered during this interim time and they too celebrate seeing the building comtogether, it means a lot because it's a real symbol of this university and community's recovery from the flood.
