iowa starts now.... a winter weather advisory is in and central iowa. travel is not advised for areas north of highway 30, with i-35 closed between ames and mason city. scattered snow showers with blowing snow will continue early this morning.the wind will still be monday.wind gusts will be in the 25 to 30 mph range. temperatures will drop to the single digits with wind chills staying below zero. it will be colder today with highs only in the teens. we will see the clouds break up a bit with some sunshine this afternoon. there is another shot at some light snow again on wednesday. that could bring a quick 1 to 2" of snow across the state. first on 13... des moines police dead following an overnight fire. firefighters responded to the home of 25-hundred 59th street just before 1 a-m. that's where channel 13's josh nguyen joins us live now. fire started in the back of the house at 2500 59th street in des moines. police responded because of fire, tried to communicate with him, he wouldn't come out, they had to get back. fire started responding... fire fighters encompassed the meanwhile, investigators are trying to find the cause of a deadly house fire in marion county... police responded to this home after 11-o'clock sunday night... they say the fire injured 79-year old ronald henning... but he made it outside. the first two sheriff's deputies on scene tried using a fire extinguisher to reach his wife... but heavy flames once firefighters put it out, they recovered the body of 77-year old patricia henning. 'anytime there is a loss my sympathies go out to the family on losing a loved one and the family needs to know that the fire departments my deputies who arrived on the scene did everything they could to try and get her out of the house.' ronald henning is recovering at an iowa city hospital. police have yet to release his condition. the iowa d-o-t says an 80 mile stretch of i-35 remains closed this morning. multiple accidents and blizzard conditions forced them to shut down the road yesterday afternoon. the closure includes all lanes, both north and southbound and runs from the highway 30 exit in ames all the way to the clear lake exit. here's a look at why. yesterday afternoon, poor visibility, blowing snow and caused numerous crashes. two cars in hamilton county. iowa state patrol says crews struggled to keep up and conditions were the worst some troopers had seen in the area in 18 years. all eyes have shifted from iowa to new hampshire for the first primary race in the nation.
