kpix 5's jackie ward joins us live from downtown napa with the latest. jackie? >> reporter: michelle, there's a flood warning here because this napa river is expected to reach flood stage tomorrow morning at 25.1 feet. the businesses down here aren't concerned because of the new floodgates that were put in, in 2015. however, other areas of napa county are already under water. the roads are so bad today, we even had trouble making it to our destination this morning. and the 4:10, this flooding on northbound 29 caused a car and a small delivery van to lose control and slide straight into floody grassy knowles. >> i was going to get gas. the gas delivered to me, i didn't see the highway flooded and i turn around but i got stuck in the mud. >> reporter: highway 29 reopened around 5:30. a couple miles southeast from there on american canyon road this small mudslide was causing cars to slow down. traffic had to maneuver around the dirt and mud, which caused minor delays. low-lying vineyards like the ones along here on big ranch road are lined with giant puddled. this

kpix 5's jackie ward is live in american canyon and jackie, you have some problems with getting to your story this morning. >> reporter: yeah. just the third stop of the day for us. we had trouble getting from highway 29 at our original destination at the napa river. that diverted us with an accident there. now on american canyon road there is a mudslide. you can see a bunch of mud and dirt has slid into the road here. this is american canyon. it's right by westbound 80. not a lot of traffic delays, which is good. to be honest, our news van is kind of causing people to slow down a little bit but we'll be out of here in just a couple of minutes. a bunch of dirt and mud have been removed from here already. as you head westbound on american canyon road, the only place you might snag up traffic-wise is between broadway and highway 29. so that was the only area that we ran into trouble while traveling american canyon road to get to this mudslide. besides that you should be pretty good. this traffic is not a big deal. just a couple of police officers here. see the police officer even getting

i'm joined by cnn political commentator david swerdling, and jackie kucinich.lcome to both of you. david, should taxpayers be surprised that they will foot the bill for mr. trump's wall at least for now? >> i don't think people should be too surprised, carol. and i don't think that this is going to be the issue that sort of trips up president trump, even though during the campaign he did backtrack and flip-flop on a variety of issues. when it came to building the wall and making mexico pay for it, i don't think people took at least this one particular campaign pledge that seriously. what the supporters who supported donald trump got and what they liked is that he talked tough with mexico, he's the guy who put his finger in mexico's chest and said, i'm going to build the wall and make you pay for it. whether or not we wind up paying for it ourselves, i don't think this is what is going to trip up president-elect trump. i think a bigger problem is a trend where he's allowed waffling on this issue, to look soft on the relationship between him and putin, on the aff
