jackie bensen explains how it could help solve the murder of another jewelry shop owner in arlington. >> reporter: this video from june 9th shows a man in a safety vest entering the jewelry store in f street northwest minutes before closing time. he pulls a gun on the owner, who asked that we not show his face. >> when i was robbed, i gave up the jewelry, and didn't fight, didn't question the guy, and he went on his way. >> reporter: this weekend the victim saw this image on tv, made from security camera video at capital jewelers on columbia pike, distributed by police after tommy weong was found murdered in history saturday. >> i saw the same exact dribs, same yellow vest, same hat, and he looked very, very similar to the guy that robbed and shot and killed the other guy in virginia. >> reporter: mr. weong's family is devastated, trying to come to grips with an unimaginable loss. >> he's a great man, very loving. all he's ever done is focus on his family and care for us. and never once has he burdened us with his troubles, and i just appreciate it if everyone can bring this man to ju

jackie bensen is live with the latest on this. jackie? >> reporter: wendy, police think the suspect lured the cab driver here to rob him. now this happened just after 2:00 this afternoon. the victim is in his mid-40s. his cab, a minivan, has the words blue bird taxi car company written on the side. police tell us the driver picked up the man at the new carrollton metro station. the man instructed the driver to take him to cooper lane elementary school known as cooper lane academy. the school open and the parking lot was empty and the driver sensed it may have been a robbery. >> the suspect then asked the driver to take him and the cab driver refused. the suspect pulled a hand dpun and shot the cab driver in his lower extremities. he has been transported to a local hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. >> reporter: police have only a vague description of the suspect. he's a black man in his 20s, that he was wearing khaki pants and had a full beard. they're asking cab drivers particularly at the new carrollton metro station to keep an

jackie bensen has more. >> reporter: these images show metro riders walking down the tracks, hauling their belongings in blistering temperatures that hovered near 100 degrees. a metro transit police officer shows them how to avoid the dangerous third rail. nearly 300 passengers were on board the green line train when it lost power about 200 yards short of the college park station, just about 6:00 p.m. >> noticed wow, we're a bit slow. it was hot. we tried to open the center door, get some circulation. >> passengers estimate they sat on the train for about 20 minutes before the decision was made to self-evacuate. there were senior citizens and people with mobility problems on board. >> we started helping people off. >> reporter: once they arrived at the college park station, they were met by police and metro employees. >> after 45 minutes in heat, babies, pregnant women, old people. >> the problem may have involved power to the third rail because a rescue train also had power issues. several team complained of heat-related issues after the long walk. they were checked out by paramedic

she told her story to jackie bensen. she joins us now with more. >> this story was first reported in "the washington post." kelly curl r kelly currin believes a crime was covered up. >> my cry is just to, you know make one mother or father raise their eyebrow at a situation between the coach/athlete relationship. >> reporter: the website of the 950-member curl-burke swim club, with the coach who has coached dozens of swimmers to national and international levels. the club uses 11 d.c. area pools as training facilities. one of those swimmers was kelly davies, now kelly curren, living in texas. she began swimming when she was 9 years old. she says the abuse began when she was 13. >> i know what i know, and the truth will set you free. and i was bound for 23 years, 6 months and however many days, and i'm free. >> reporter: kelly says she eventually told some people, including her parents. at 19 she was encouraged to sign a settlement in which he agreed to not speak about the charges, ever. >> in my coming out and talking ab
