kpix 5's jackie ward joins us live near the creek with an update on the search and recovery efforts. jackie. >> reporter: the recovery process all depends on the water level of the alameda creek that looks like a river lately. when we were here yesterday, we couldn't even see these rocks towards the riverbank. so it has subsided significantly and that's good news for what local and county agencies want to get done today. yesterday with the help of the driver's family and friends, search crews think they found the car that went into the water over the weekend. an 18-year-old girl from tracy was on highway 84 saturday when she collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction sending her car into the water. with drones, authorities could see two tires sticking out of the swells. the water level was deemed too dangerous to send dive teams in yesterday but the alameda county water district thought it would lower to make the process of getting this car out of the water a little safer and a little easier. still, that process could take several hours. it's going to start at 10 a.m. chp

kpix 5's jackie ward is live to show us how things are looking now. jackie. >> reporter: well, michelle, we were on our way to the napa river but we got stuck as we were heading northbound on highway 29 and this is why. a couple of cars are stuck due to flooding. it appears that they got into some kind of accident. we don't have details. we only know that chp is on scene and highway 29 northbound is closed from minnie drive. so the flooding here northbound is more significant than on the southbound side because as you can see, the northbound lanes are lower than the southbound lanes. so there will be flooding here. no one is in the car right now that silver car but over here, in the white van, a passenger is still in the car and appears to be okay. the flooding is obviously just grassy area here. i'm already up to my ankles in water so this is significant. northbound highway will stay closed until the water recedes. who knows how long that could be? the rain doesn't seem to be coming down too hard right now. but we'll keep monitoring this area and brin

. >> kpix 5's jackie ward is live in golden gate park with a warning for anyone taking advantage of the better weather and going out for a walk. jackie? >> reporter: yeah. it is something i saw this morning and i was taking my dog out for a walk around golden gate park. it's red tape that has "danger" on it. that's highly unusual! at least in this part of the park because i usually see yellow caution tape. the rec and parks department says the red tape and the yellow tape mean the same thing, just be careful when you're around these trees that are roped off and coned off. this is part of the clean-up that they have already done. right now they are prioritizing the trees that need more attention than others. because they were down and already cut up the tree is okay for now. and it's strong so they are not concerned. they are trying to focus on the trees that may still be on sidewalks. they have been out there working daily because of the heavy winds and rains that we got over the past week. they tell me that we only lost 76 trees and that may seem like a big number for the entire city o
