james torres has been following this developing story all morning. he's live in the north beach neighborhood. that's where this trans bay pursuit began. james and garcia, we've spoken to a number of people who have been out here this morning walking dogs, going on their own morning walks. and this is something that's all they can talk about here. we're in an area just outside of the saint peters and paul catholic church. this is where police say they responded to yesterday evening, just before 6:00 for calls of an assault. they say they eventually found the suspect, the person accused of attacking some parishioners here and then that person ended up taking off. and this went on for absolute miles. that person, that suspect in a car leading police on a chase all throughout the city of san francisco and over the bay bridge. but before heading into the east bay, officers say that suspect started throwing what they call unknown objects out of the window. that was in the nob hill and the soma neighborhoods before actually getting to the bridge. the san francisco police officers association calling those objects suspicious devices as standar
