( james ) a judge deciding whether a southern california couple should face trial on charges of child abuse has heard a chilling 9-1-1 call from their teenage daughter. horrific testimony was heard during david and louise turpin's hearing yesterday. the couple has pleaded not guilty to charges that could carry a life sentence. the turpins' 17-year-old daughter called 9-1-1 in january after escaping from the family's riverside county home. a transcript of the call was released. the girl said her sisters were in shackles... and that she hadn't showered in a year. investigators said some of the couple's 13 children had stunted growth. they say they were beaten, starved and even put in cages.
